I realised I haven't properly done an #introduction
I am Andrew an older software engineer who specialises in databases (I strongly believe a full stack engineer should know SQL!), I spend a lot of my time now helping the newest generation grow their skills in this field.

I love learning new things and often seek out opposing opinions to mine, not to argue with, to learn from, to find out what do they see that I don't, why do they come to a different conclusion to me?

I read a lot, mostly sci-fi and fantasy and follow #bookstodon to find new books to consume, I follow security news and the wonderful cats and randomness on here to bring smiles to my days. 😁

I use AI, I do worry about the ethics of it, the societal impact, I find it valuable despite it's flaws and mistakes, and I am fascinated by the potential within it. I fear that like every other technology us humans have created it will be misused and be blamed for enabling the worst sides of human nature.
