@paco@infosec.exchange @FeloniousPunk@beige.party if you can afford to throw unlimited technology at the problem (I used to march in drum & bugle corps; DCI shows are crazy) the answer which feels obvious to me is “drones with LED strips and streamers” quadcopters can be programmed to begin flying when they detect they’ve been thrown. the problem of getting them back into the hands of the color guard … well, could you stash some FPV operators on the sidelines? otherwise you’re gonna need some clever computer vision hacks. oh, this isn’t Cirque du Soleil you say? well not with that attitude it won’t be 😝

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io This particular technique (perspective lines) is interesting to me, as a more sophisticated check for images where I can’t identify a specific “tell” but still have reason to doubt an image’s authenticity. That’s the value I see here, and why I appreciate the OP. I have one more tool, and a fairly subtle one, which I can now apply methodically to disprove dubious hypotheses about an image’s plausibility.

We came to different conclusions about the motives of the characters involved, with me believing at least a few of them were honestly trying to do something good. And yes: the moment BTC became something that could be converted to [USD|fiat], all remaining idealism was smothered by the profit motive. The end result is indisputable - whether or not it was conceived as a tool of liberation, it was rapidly co-opted into the toolbox of our oppressors. I was among the idealists and yes I am still salty as fuck about it.

I’ve even had partners who used the word “limerance” in relation to them and me, and somehow I downplayed whatever it was they were saying to the point that I thought it just meant “that glowy feeling I get around them and why I prioritize them above all else” or something. I finally got to the end of my limerance story, but it’s been a hard fucking road.
