@chirpbirb@meow.social That kind of sucks. Of course, it also sucks when something you're using for years also just starts to develop deprecation warnings over time too. My favorite deprecations are when a random template generator deprecates the old version, and the replacement version has made sweeping API breaks from the previous stable version.

Re: Coding for a code base you don't fully understand:

I have to refresh my memory regularly for my own dang code bases I've been working on for a decade or more. I do not have instant recall of every single minute detail. Maybe that's the sign that I should hand the reigns to someone younger and saner and go farm goats in the hills.

Or maybe not.

Why is my timeline repeating everything from yesterday all over again? It seems like an endless feedback loop of AI discourse.

@alwayscurious@infosec.exchange I know both sides are arguing the other side abused them, and that one side doxxed the other side. And I know all this drama is over fricking V-tubing technology. If only both sides could stay the hell away from me.

Is it bad that, in any argument involving someone I know rather well, I automatically side with the person I know over the relative nobody they got into a fight with? And then feel the need to vacate communities completely when this relative nobody is being invited to them one by one?

@rootwyrm @soatok Some whackadoodle I saw on a certain Linux distribution Discord server would have said that was a good thing, because they consider anyone saying that they're an "empath" would be a "huge red flag." They're pretty much the whole reason I left that place. Well, and they made fun of my personal domains registered for making fun of and educating people on Brave and Ladybird. homophobicshitcoinbrowser.com and racistfundiebrowser.com ... said something like "It's a good thing you didn't broadcast those in the main channel. That's so (r-slur)"

@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net Alternately, you can disable the auto starting of kmix. It just needs to be stopped from starting, and you need to log out and log in for the newer default to take over the media keys.

@jiub The annoying thing is, Arch still packages that obsolete alternate mixer app, and still includes it in the meta package and group for Plasma software. If you uninstall the obsolete package, then log out and back in again, the correct newer mixer will hook media keys. Remove kmix and any meta packages that force its installation.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange I was told that I should not want all of these things in a single app, because it could mean a single point of failure for a whole community or a given selection of users. So I should instead want all of my contacts and services spread out amongst a huge selection of different things, any number of which can fail at any given time, but what are the chances that all of them fail all at once?
