I was honestly glad to find out I hadn't qualified to be in a "speech" role, because it saved me the hassle of telling them no, I'm not interested in having my speech vetted by admin - if they want something said, go say it themselves.
It's so common in the US that "school shooting kills 3 at grad" isn't even the lede anymore in a puff piece. :/
The more I see of the World Cup, the more I think CA let ourselves get used as the beard for the US. Ooh, it's a three nation bid! Except CA has 2 stadiums, only one gets a round of 16 game (Toronto is done after round-of-32), and *all* the quarter final games and up are in the US. There's no way the US actually needed us for logistics, only for disguising it was a US bid.
So the US has invented another reason why they need to tariff everyone, but a question I haven't seen asked: given the US is self-admittedly a net importer, how is it that everyone ELSE is using these suppliers but one of the largest economies in the world... isn't?

Cool - didn't want to go there anyway.
With all the talk about web browsers tracking everything we do, I think what I want is a browser who works for me the same way Trump's Press Secretaries do - bald-faced lying to servers on my behalf. "Yup, took that cookie, and my timezone is Arizona." "What cookie? And my timezone is New York".

Could you imagine if Old Strathcona's BA came out with "we think all three orders of government should be mandating employees come to Whyte Ave 2-3 days a week to increase vibrancy"?

“Many Canadian jurisdictions have already transitioned away from court reporter services due to the use of outdated technology and due to the shortage of court reporters.”
Of course, NAIT cancelled the only court reporting program in English Canada last year. Might explain a "shortage".
Hoping someone smart can poke a hole in this logic: Lvl 1 charging is 1.3kW (a.k.a. "plug into standard 3-prong".) Search tells me that I'd need 2-4 panels (depending on brand/quality) to generate that much power. And that many panels fit on a RV roof. So in theory, we're at a point where you could refuel your camper while camping, yes?

"Global News has reached out to TransEd, which operates the low-floor train line from Mill Woods to downtown, and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. "
"Um, dumbass ran a red light and hit the broad side of a train. We look forward to draining his accident insurance dry." ?
Building a shed, and not only are the instructions rather terrible, and the website is largely useless (yes, show me some Youtube short where they montage through the build - that's flippin' useful)... a larger search finds a completely *different* instruction manual for the same model number. So now I'm trying to figure out if they mix-and-matched on me.
So, max penalty is 1 year of prison (yeah, *right*) or 100k fine. Which in modern election fundraising is easily considered "cost of doing business".
And that's assuming the gov't even decides to do anything about it.

I don't think any nuclear state has standing to say "oh, we can't let THEM have those DANGEROUS weapons". Y'all clean up your own backyard first.
Worth reading, because not only (a) was she legally here, (b) her step-sons weaponized it to punish her over husband's will.
