This is my driveway. And my front lawn. And the tree we share with our neighbors. Note the deer hiding on the sidewalk? It’s not a great photo because there’s a dog on a leash in my one hand and I’m trying to take this photo without scaring the baby deer or dropping my phone whilst primarily using the other. I don’t think I understand the meaning of “cease fire.” Or “human rights.” Or “war crimes.” Or a whole lot of other things I learned in my International Criminal Law class. I also don’t understand why so many countries/humans are content on the sidelines. #WeAreTheWorld?

@rbreich@masto.ai ask us how we plan to put our own children through college, afford a mortgage, or retire. Ask us when we last got a COLA increase, let alone a raise or bonus. Ask us how many unpaid hours we spend grading, prepping, handling issues by text and email, attending events to support students, and reading about how to be better teachers in challenging times. The answers are that we don’t know. And we don’t know why we keep going on beyond the hope a few kids give us.

I know this isn’t an original thought, but I need to scream into the void and my hubbie/kids/dog are tired of me: why TF are any journalists of any integrity attending the #WhiteHouseCorrespondentsDinner tonight?

Obviously, there’s the question of integrity. There’s another about what it means to be a #journalist vs a #correspondent, given some of the invitees. And there are fame chasers who will abase themselves for the angry orange and ask for another one.

But, it’s SO sad. 🙄🤯🤬

Last year, my son & his BFF made history as the first 2-person team in OR’s #CivicsLearningProject & the US’s #CenterforCivicsEducation history to win the #WethePeople competition, an honor later bestowed as a co-win with their state “rival.” It was a privilege to see the knowledge, camaraderie, & professionalism of kids from all 50 states.

This year, my son has been coaching those “rivals.” All participants bring hope in dark days. Go #OrWild!

Tossing random allegations out based on clearly faked websites and saying, “please wait for me to find proof,” isn’t journalism. A real investigative reporter would issue a retraction. A troll proceeds like Dave does.

In fact, it’s (c) sketchy AF and seems like a publicity grab, a smear campaign, trolling, or all of the above. Put up or shut up.
