In general, in #Europe, rich people live in #city centers (pretty, historic, walkable), while poor people tend to live on the periphery. Berlin (left #map) is a good example. While in the #US, because of the #sprawl and racism, downtowns are often run-down and poor, and rich people live in the #suburbs.

Curiously tho, #Germany has 1-2 cities with an "American" pattern, where downtowns are poor. Like #Nurnberg (right). Is it because its center was destroyed by bombings, and then reconstructed?

I made a #data #plot for some internal analysis at work, and then was like wow am I on shrooms? Why am I tripping?..

Turns out, the lines are just a bit offset, and I happened to hit a color pair that triggers a mild Kitaoka-style #visual #illusion (at least for me haha)

Had to change the colors to something milder :)

Although wouldn't the split between socialized countries (everyone rents) and kinda conservative countries (owning a home is still the goal for many) be greater in wealth inequality, rather than income inequality?

It's striking that evil disfunctional cleptocracies (#russia, at 48%) are not _that_ worse than functional democracies (think #Germany, #Austria, that are at about 30%). I mean, 48 is more than 30, but not by an order of magnitude!

If it's true, then _who_ owns the #wealth is way more important than how much they own.

Alternatively, the russian number may be based on official numbers, in which case it's useless, and actuals are in the 90%s.

@thegradient@sigmoid.social Thanks :) AI and DataScience are both super-weird words, as people understand it so differently! Like, some people believe AI minus GOFAI is strictly a subset of ML, and a rather small one (aka regression is not AI). While some believe that ML lies strictly within AI :) I'm definitely in the 2nd camp (I think an if-then is an AI - just a very simple decision tree haha), and it seems you are too, but not all ppl are :) Thanks gain!

I mean, personally I tend to understand AI extremely broadly, but I remember how people had these 100-tweet-long disputes about the limits of the term... Could it help to be just a bit more vague and inclusive here? Or are you afraid to grow too large and too expensive?
