This is why I read @pluralistic@mamot.fr He's so good at succinctly summing up important high-level concepts and then connecting them with the current problems we face. #capitalism #wealth #oligarchy

An open letter signed by 120 millionaires asked the new Prime Minister today to increase their taxes, joining the public in their demands to ensure “extreme wealth is taxed fairly to reduce inequality both at home and abroad... We’re not talking about higher taxes on those who get up and go to work for their income every day, but on the very richest whose income is derived from the wealth they hold,” Organised by the Patriotic Millionaires UK group, they called on Mr Burnham to help Britain “succeed,” adding: “Success requires investment and a primary source of untouched capital investment is sitting with us, in untaxed potential....Paying your fair share is a basic British value, but so many ordinary people are already paying more than they can afford. ...To live up to our national values our new government must raise taxes on extreme levels of wealth for a fairer, better, more hopeful Britain.” https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/we-can-afford-it-britain-based-millionaires-tell-burnham-tax-us-more #Wealth #UKpolitics

“in 1982, the first year Forbes compiled its list of the 400 #richest #Americans, the combined wealth of the 400 was only $92B. In 2025 it was $6.6T. Even adjusting for inflation, the growth of #wealth at the top has dwarfed gains … for the average American” open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug... Democracy in an Age of Powerma...

Outstanding illustration of the difference between Average and Median, and how important that difference is. Very, very rich people are dragging up the average in some countries and making it look like everyone there has more income. #math #wealth #income #TaxTheRich

We are not Europoors. The median wealth of US citizens is 28th position. Almost all Euro countries, and all other advanced economies place above it. The median UK citizen has twice the wealth of a median US citizen. The reason is that USA today has wealth inequality on the level of absolute monarchies like Saudi-Arabia, and kleptocracies like Russia. Eurozone is doing great for regular people. USA is worse than the gilded age now. https://youtube.com/watch?v=kzFUd8uj7pA #wealth #statistics #inequality

Money Explained ============== What is Wealth? The Earth, water, air, fruit, and all the things on Earth. Visualize Wealth as a disk 🌎 What is Money? It's the allocation of wealth, per person. Visualize Money as a pie chart overlaid on 🌎 How much money you have is represented by a sector, your slice 🍕of the big 🥧 What does the Money chart look like? Trillionaires and Billionaires have huge slices, you and I have thin slices. And the poor, saddled with debt, are not even on this chart, because a pie chart cannot represent negative numbers. The Money system is broken. What is Inflation? It's when the Fed can print more money arbitrarily, inflate their own slice, and squeeze down everyone else's purchasing power. Fiat money is broken. It amounts to the Banker in a game of Monopoly, giving themselves an unfair advantage. It's illegal self-dealing. Nobody ever earned a trillion dollars, or even a billion. They stole the fruit of other people's labor, then used that money to hide the theft, whitewash the crime with media, and gaslight people into believing that they are millions of times smarter / more talented / hard-working than the masses, and somehow deserve to eat millions of meals everyday to feed their precious, indispensable genius 🧠 brains. #Earth #Wealth #Money #Trillion #Trillionaire #ElonMusk #SpaceX #economy #finance #economics #psychology

Replying to @VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social
@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social I think wealth equity should be a fundamental human right. Billionaires should be held accountable for hoarding extreme wealth. #TaxTheRich #wealth #money #inequality #HumanRights
