Newly elected leader of Hungary, Peter Magyar, with French President Emmanuel Macron. Victor Orban's loss was so overwhelming, he could not deny the will of the Hungarian people. This is a huge defeat for: Trump, Putin & JD Vance. It is a huge win for democracy and for all Hungarians. #magyar #orban #putin #trump #jdvance #democracy

Anyone else think of our planet earth as resembling a delicate eye, with its translucent membrane & retina, in need of the utmost care & protection? It’s increasingly how I think about our fragile planet with its wispy atmosphere, deep oceans, tectonic plates, volcanic activity, fossilized underground carbon, minerals, mountains, lakes, glaciers, forests, jungles & plains teeming with plants, fruits, trees, primates & other mammals, reptiles, insects, birds & microscopic creatures. #protectearth

It just dawned on me that after May, Stephen Colbert on CBS will go silent. I expect he’ll take some downtime. But I also expect to see him pop up somewhere — Netflix? HBO? A new podcast, perhaps? We’ll all be waiting for him to reappear, ‘cause the truth can’t be silenced, especially when it’s delivered so funnily, so satirically and with such intelligence. #stephencolbert

Ashamed. Out of pure masochism and curiosity, spouse & I suffered through the pseudo-documentary, “Melania” last night on a streaming service (to remain unnamed). It was brutal sitting (& yawning) through one of the most inane, marketing & propaganda ploys ever thrust upon the world, maybe since Leni Riefenstahl, but less cinematic. From the cheesy music to the fawning assistants to the cringe-y feeling of doom once the “plot” included her doddering husband, it was mendacious & shallow. AVOID.

The List (feel free to add more names in the comments). Btw, Hegseth keeps firing generals who don't want to put boots on the ground in Iran or who pushed back against his wanting to omit 4 blacks and women from being on the one-star general promotions list. #lists #firings #incompetence

This will go down as one of my all-time favorite courtroom artist sketches: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson discussing the 14th Amendment's birthright citizenship clause in front of a scowling Trump. #birthrightcitizenship #ketanjibrownjackson #scotus

I think it's telling that SCOTUS is beginning to hear arguments in favor of re-interpreting the 14th Amendment's birthright citizenship clause on April Fool's Day. Because SCOTUS are a bunch of fools if they think they can overturn 150 years of crystal clear constitutional language and precedent. #aprilfools #SCOTUS #birthrightcitizenship

The ancestors of nearly everyone serving on SCOTUS benefited from the clearly stated birthright citizen clause of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment. We shall see if Alito, Thomas & Gorsuch try to contort themselves like pretzels to find for the president that children born in the US of undocumented immigrants aren’t citizens. The president intends to attend in person oral arguments at SCOTUS. No sitting president has ever done this before. He thinks his scowling presence can intimidate them.

I want this in my shower, as I detest traditional shower diverters that switch between the shower head and a hand shower. These push buttons are so much cleaner, easier to use for older folks and make so much more sense. (I bet TFG would be obsessed with this if he weren't so busy focusing on his gilt ballroom while people are dying in wars...) By Alta + Aqua. #showers

Apparently, changing the infant vaccine schedule isn't polling well (duh!) politically. So, there's now a crisis of confidence inside DHS & at the CDC, which is currently leaderless. It's amazing that political polling is driving the DHS, which is now pushing hard that people need to get vaccinated for measles. I guess it isn't a good "look" politically to have babies, toddlers & young kids getting really sick & even dying from a scourge we defeated years ago with proven vaccines.
