One of my favorite things about Logos Bible Software is that I can build my own “unicorn” study Bible. Below is an example of one such build. In no world will I ever find the RSV, the CSB Ancient Faith Study Bible, and the Thompson Chain Reference bound together as a single physical Bible, but Logos lets me link them all together! I will always be a physical book person, but tech does have its strengths.

I had a really encouraging conversation with the bishop of the Anglican diocese my wife and I have entered. A lot of progress has been made on the first steps towards ordination, and if I am able to complete some additional work before July I will be on track to be ordained a deacon in the autumn.

Please pray for me as I continue working on the assignments the Bishop gives me to accomplish.

This morning I would ask that you please #pray for me and the congregation I serve. This is my last #sunday with them. It is a bittersweet moment… my family and I are excited to be heading towards reception into the #Anglican church, but I will miss ministering to this people through #preaching and #sacrament.

This past weekend was a hard one. My family and I spent a lot of time crying as we grieved the death of Cosmo. He was such beloved little companion who spent every possible moment at my side. It is heartbreaking to lose him so soon. And so I hope that C.S. Lewis‘ vision of our beloved animal companions is right: “Every beast and bird that came near [us] had its place in [our] love. In [us] they became themselves. And now the abundance of life [we have] in Christ from the Father flows over into them.” (from: “The Great Divorce”)

This week's #sermon was a particularly difficult one to deliver. As I am prepare to transfer into the Anglican Church (ACNA), two Sunday's from now will be my final Sunday at Dunningville Reformed Church as their pastor. The lectionary readings assigned to today gave me an opportunity to #preach into that upcoming event in their and my life. So, yes, this was a difficult sermon to preach, but I also think it was a beautiful one. As such, it seems right to share it on here.

During #lent one of my practices annually is to pick a #book that becomes my companion throughout the season.

For the past 5 years Flemming Rutledge's "The Crucifixion" has been that book. However, this year, I chose a different companion. I am spending time each day in Malcom Guite's "The Word in the Wilderness: A Poem a Day for Lent and Easter." What a spectacular choice!

If you are looking for a book to pick up this Lenten season, I would highly recommend Guite's book.

This world and the cosmos are permeated with meaning - all of it proclaiming #God and his desires for us. The only reason we can’t see all of that meaning is because we have forgotten how to “read” it.

If we are to recover our ability to understand the meaning woven into all things one of the first things we need to do is disentangle our lives from #technology and our devices on a regular basis. At minimum we need one day a week to be free from screens and to enjoy getting back out into creation.

We need, what the #Bible calls, #Sabbath
