It seems absurdly implausible that it could've been taken at the exact same camera angle, height, and location as the first image given the immense destruction that has occurred around where the camera is sitting at? A reverse image search also only turned up a few X accounts reposting it with no source. (Note: I'm only questioning the validity of that particular image, not the destruction that has actually occurred in Gaza as a whole)

@chu What is more concerning to me is the sheer number of kids I've seen shooting down the street or sidewalk on these e-scooters with no helmets or anything. Massive recipe for disaster if they were to hit a bump or something and fly off the scooter right onto the pavement at 30+km/h. Probably doesn't help that helmets on e-scooters are only "encouraged" where I live and not a legal requirement unlike with e-bikes, so it's more-or-less unenforced in that sense.

@danieruotakuboy @fosstodon The server is likely abandoned from what it seems. The main admin on there hasn't posted anything for over 3 years, and it's using an outdated version of the Mastodon client that's been out of support since last April. Especially in the last year or so, there's been persistent issues with spammers and inappropriate content springing up on there (due to still having open registrations) that's not being actively removed, even after multiple reports.

@ai6yr I did find a notice posted on March 5th from the main account on that instance announcing it was shutting down, though it doesn't seem like the admins pushed out that notice to the weather bots themselves, so unless you were following that specific profile, there was no warning at all.

@Techaltar YouTube's done this sort of thing for years now, this isn't new. Instagram's implementation of the Share feature is somehow even worse than this: If you're logged in, the Share feature attaches tracking data to created links that, when accessed, shows a pop-up asking you if you want to follow the Instagram account that was being used to create the Share link at the time, basically doxing the account owner.

@ariadne It's such a stupid concept. There's no usable atmosphere on Mars and the conditions are far too harsh for long-term human occupation on it's own. For it to even hypothetically work you'd have to build tons of pressurized climate-controlled pods and domes for people to live in, which they can't possibly leave without putting on a bulky spacesuit. And since travelling to Mars is obviously going to be exorbitantly expensive, the only people that'll ever do it are billionaires.

@futurebird@sauropods.win There's essentially no such thing as "snow days" where I'm from. It's district policy to keep the schools open as much as possible (unless the weather conditions make it literally impossible for even staff to show up to schools, which never happened during the course of my school career). Parents do have the option to not send their kids to school if they choose to, though I don't recall many parents actually doing that unless they lived very far away from the school or something.

@noheger@wien.rocks Microsoft did this sort of thing with Windows 11 as well (apparently done via some sort of weird DWM hack to round the window corners, without actually changing how the touch targets are located). Though for whatever reason, the mouse targets are smaller on the top corners of the window than on the bottom, even though it technically shouldn't matter.

@annika@xoxo.zone AFAIK, the "?si=" tracking parameter only appears if you use the Share button below the YouTube video. Copying the URL from the address bar or right-clicking on the video player and selecting "Copy video URL" does not add any additional tracking parameters; only the actual video link.

@alice@lgbtqia.space I once came across an account just as described (forgot who it was, sorry), though even more ridiculously they added a watermark advertising their account to all of the videos they posted even though likely none of the videos were theirs and stolen from any one of the millions of free websites out there with such content. They also never credited any of the creators they stole the videos from, so no way to even possibly know who the subject(s) were in the first place.

@kytta There was a weird problem I noticed on Google Maps earlier this year where a major arterial road in my city somehow got renamed to "x" (yes, literally just the letter x). I have no idea how that happened. I reported the change, and it did get reverted to the correct name later on (though I don't know if my report actually had any bearing on the issue getting fixed or not).

@Nic3 @Endof10 You can find that information in the Settings app > System > About, and on the "Edition" line under the "Windows specifications" section it should say the Windows version followed by the edition you're running (i.e. "Windows 11 Home", "Windows 10 Pro", etc.).
