Inspired by someone who took to high ground to receive some #Meshtastic traffic, I took the £35 plunge(!) and grabbed an encased unit. So far, there are no nodes at all in North Wales.
Something to shove in the side pocket of the rucksack and another motivation to take to the mountaintops of #Eryri. 👍

Due to the initial antenna connection problem, I missed the tuning-up, but most of today's SAQ is here. A strong, ~S7 signal today, with a clear signal from the carrier during key-up times.
Frequency control was excellent today, well within the design +/-10Hz. Given it's an electromechanically-regulated spinning metal disc, this is always pretty amazing!

Phew! SDR No. 1 wasn't working properly this morning as SAQ began to fire up.
Swapped it for SDR No. 2. Same problem. DC rising too slowly and causing self-oscillation on the amp due to cold-hand connections? Nope, not that.
As the CW started to flow, I wiggled the antenna connection and the slightly under S7 signal appeared! A bit of servicing required over Xmas...
