I've recently been getting irrationally annoyed by (ostensibly) right-wrong leaning people I know referring to the UK as a Third World Country, usually in reference to the NHS.

I'm have to stop myself from replying with "wow, how far did you have to walk to get clean water", "blimey, they didn't even have plumbing" or "who knew we were on our fourth military dictatorship this year" but I know that's petty and not actually reflective of actual life in (what Western Nations refer to as) "Third World Countries"... I just don't know how to counter it.

At least the plumber listened when I told him that I have a family member who is AWOL from a police state because his employer refused to pay him for 3 months straight, so he left the country and if he returns to that bloc of countries, he would be arrested... And that wouldn't happen here.

@yayamatt@mastodon.social allegedly Center Parcs "Villages Nature Paris" has the largest water park in Europe (although I've heard similar from other water parks in the past). On the DLP front, my daughter did everything she wanted, and my son went here on a "maths trip" with school earlier in the year, so he was just reliving his favourites, or humouring my wants 😀 back in there tomorrow, may gods have mercy on my wallet!

#Today I am melting in the heat at #disneylandparis. I am thankful for the pervasive WiFi which means my eldest can wander without incurring roaming fees, my youngest can listen to music to avoid getting overwhelmed, and I can idly try to figure out what crazy project I want to try to build for work when I get back. For anyone else thinking of going, I can heartily recommend the Center Parc holiday complex 15 minutes from DLP. There's lots to do and a bus service to get in and out each day.

Just wanted to promote a phone #RPG #game I've been playing on my #android device from #fdroid. The game is "Idle Fantasy" [1]. You queue up jobs to do (now and 3 more), including mining, smelting, fishing, fletching, and raiding dungeons.

It looks very basic and text-only but it's entirely offline, has no ads, and doesn't rely on me constantly having my phone on. Some tasks take a fixed length of time ("mining", "fishing" and "raiding", for example take 1hr each), some depend on how many things you're making, crafting or changing (for example, one arrow may take 30s but you can make as many as you've got raw materials for, while burying 1000 bones or ashes for religious spells will take more than 12 hours).

4½* if that was something F-Droid permitted!
