They run the candidates who win primaries, not random people chosen by alien reptiles.
Those who fail to vote in primaries allow bad candidates to run in Generals.
Those who fail to vote in General elections leave all the decisions to their opponents.

The reason Spanky won is that a whole bunch of people failed to vote. They knew trump was a fool but couldn't bring themselves to vote for that black lady.
The choice was a choice. One obvious idiot vs a black lady, but they couldn't make that decision.
