Please submit your objection to this monster coal mine expansion today. The emissions from this project (over a biollion tonnes of CO2) are equivalent to 2.5x the annual emissions for Australia. Make a submission today. HVO Continuation is the largest coal mine ever proposed and will produce over a billion tonnes of greenhouse gas. That's equivalent to the annual emissions of Japan!
Due to HVO's extensive add campaign that is ongoing there are over 5 times as many submissions supporting this terrible proposal than opposing it.
Lock the gate have provided good talking points for a submission.

They knew. Australia's politicians absolutely knew back in 2005 how damaging #coal use was — and they didn’t tell us.
Even today, while some politicians still deny or downplay climate change and attack renewable energy, newly released documents show they were warned about the risks twenty years ago.

Burning gas is a major driver of #climateChange . #Gas is a polluting fossil fuel, and Australia exports most of it as #LNG, which has significantly higher carbon emissions than coal once processing and shipping are included.

Price parity is here in Australia with the 2026 BYD Atto 1 EV cheaper than its petrol equivalents (Mazda 2 and Suzuki Swift). Base model $24K and longer range premium model $28K plus on-road costs.
