None of this is, or should not be, shocking to us First Nations peoples. This is the epitome of what we've been dealing with for five centuries. It's all par for the course. What's surprizing to me is that other people are surprized. lol. Like, this is all exactly the anti-moral behavior and attitude I'd expect from a country built on oppression. The only difference here is that it's not just people of colour anymore, it's the entire underclass. He is the moral(less) leader of the elite; the overseers.

@_slotek_@mastodon.social Well, I don't think they were ever Native to begin with. These acquistions have to stop. They're not gonna. What I'd like to see is smaller companies working more closely together. See which can form co-ops and such. Might be the only way for them to survive and thrive, sadly. Only boring part about it, for us, is that all the i.e. effects pedals would have the same knobs, jacks, resisters, etc because they'd be buying in larger quantities to keep their costs down and remain profitable.

There's a pretty neat app called #Finch that does #gamification for #taskManagement / #organizing / #selfcare stuff.

It helps me keep track of what I should be posting when and where and reminds me of some of the things I need to do. All while sharing #todo items with people.

Finch Cares is a #PublicBenefitCorporation and the application is gratis. I've paid for it because it's useful and I wanted more vanity items. lol

So that the company can grow & everyone else make as much money as possible and reasonable? Do you share anti-union propaganda? 100% Employee Owned can be good. Not always.

@Kitty I must be an outlier. I never used those mainstream platforms and experienced algorithms. I've been on traditional, respectful stuff like Dreamwidth, LinuxQuestions.org, VampireFreaks, FetLife, or amongst people IRL. All those have typical ways of displaying content like by newest or most popular, and have decent ways to search posts and accounts.

There's only so much going on with the data and it's all 0's and 1's. Music is actually fairly simple stuff. Where's the coocoo clock emoji? 🤪 I mean... there's a level where I have to congratulate the people who are selling these things. Good for them. Seriously. lol. The people buying this stuff are obviously doing well financially and are foolish and ignorant enough to deserve being ripped off.

It's much less expensive, lighter, and takes up less space. I could see it being used between surround sound stereos and receivers maybe. Only in the craziest multichannel set ups like 16.4.2 or whatever people are doing. But, that's it.

@tenacity I prefer to use a distros repos. AppImages for other things. I think Flatpaks mainly see higher usage b/c it's easy to do via CLI/GUI w/ pretty much everything being in Flathub. I dislike how much work it is to theme them properly & deal w/ permissions. AppImage installed applications should be able to check, notify, + prompt to DL the latest version on a weekly or monthly basis. I think Appimages should be for smaller releases w/ only majors in Flathub. Less processing & delay for cutting edge "weekly". More stability & relaxed update cycle in Flatpaks. A sensible compromise b/w work & user expectations. No? Mailing list + atom feed notifs?

Jamendo could potentionally handle this as far as licensing goes. FunkWhale could interoperate relatively easily for any music that's legimately allowed to. What we need are people going to local shows and seeing bands that play at smaller venues advocating they sign up on these smaller platforms as well as run their own websites, mailing lists, etc. Artists need to be aware that there are alternatives to only copyright, facebooger, and exploitative record labels. I've been working on things but, it's a matter of time&money

I think you were talking about adding music to a user' video that falls under the Public Domain or is licensed as CC BY-NC or similar. Yes? That would be cool. Someone should talk to Jamendo.com and others about implementing an API. However, it's still expensive and a Paid account tier would have to also be implemented. This would be a great incentive for people to donate to their servers and I'd like for artists to get publicity and compensation.

They're over before they start. They're more like long gifs with audio. lol GNUsocial, Mastodon, and the others already allow multimedia attachments so, this seems redundant to me and more of a limitation to be focused solely on TV commercial length videos.

They get so many messages even their secretaries / media managers have a hard time. Ya gotta know people to be able to directly contact one of them or their managers. The best we could do is campaign to solicit smaller but, (signed and) touring bands who have a few hundred to a few thousand followers elsewhere. Along with their fans perhaps. We need to promote in clubs, venues, and anywhere that the shows would be. Maybe even have in person metalhead gatherings to onboard. Sort of like a LUG (Linux User Group) that brings in newbies.
