Woodsied has been playing a long game in its Browse Basin Gas Project. It had no hope under existing laws so it has quietly set about influencing government into nobbling the approval process by degrading environmental protection laws and processes and ultimately empowering the Minister to make a decision in their favour if all else fails. Well done.

Just wondering if the mental health issues that are driving millions of people out of the workforce and onto some form of commercial income support might have something to do with the dog-eat-dog industrial relations system that has turned many bosses into clear and outright exploiters of the workforce. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-06/income-support-grows-mental-health-work/106626692

If any other country was doing what the American backed State of Israel is doing in Lebanon there would be a huge international outcry of condemnation and they would be declared a rogue state.
It is not difficult to anticipate the future for Lebanon - just look at the Palestinian territories.
OCCUPY - EXTERMINATE - ANNEXE
The Greater Israel will become a realtiy while the rest of teh world looks away.

Australia's Central Bank has just hit consumers again with an interest rate hike - on top of the fuel price hike they are all having to adjust to the copnsequences of. The ABC News Headline of the story says
"The RBA is risking a recession by raising interest rates but feels there's nothing else it can do"
I say the reason it feels there is nothing else to do is that it is reading from the wrong economic textbook. The RBA has been stifling our economy for too long.

In Australia, there is a lot of media HYPE about rorting of our National Disability Insurance Scheme which provides services to many people with all kinds of disabilities that are intended to improve their quality of life and ability to engage in work and community activities.
You can easily get the impression that it is the clients who are rorting the system, when in fact it is unregistered and unregulated service-providers doing the rorting. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-05/ndis-fraud-tactics-popping-up-around-australia/106622490

Western Australia's parliament is in the control of Labor in both houses - so it can pass whatever legislation it chooses. But they have stuffed this procedural legislation that has no ideological pressure one way or the other and they stand alone in not sharing data across jurisdictions. It makes one wonder whose money is in their pockets stalling this important legislation. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-03/working-with-children-check-delays-in-western-australia/106635892

In the May ANUpoll "The Greens top the poll as the most hated party, with 25.6 per cent of respondents reporting a strong dislike of the party compared to One Nation at 24.2 per cent."
While the Greens occupy the right existential space for my way of thinking about Politics, they have clearly played "the game" of politics badly in recenty years and now the results of that are beginning to show.
Meanwhile, Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party seems to be thriving.

#auspol Now would be a good time for the Reserve Bank Board to dump is anxiety about a wages-driven inflation spike. Twice, now, inflation has been driven by rapacious pricing in the retail sector, or an energy crisis over which we have no control. Meanwhile our completely useless Fair Work Commission presides over the longest period of wage-growth suppression in living memory.

#AusPol - How is it that when an unemployed person in Australia, under the obligations of an Activity Test has to demonstrate that they are applying for jobs and attending interviews that are offered - with no help from their employment service provider (some of which are multinational, for-profit corporations), finally succeeds in securing a job, that employment service provider is rewarded with payments in the thousands of dollars? The Australian political discourse is all focussed on how far the Libs have drifted to the right - but Albo's stance on the Gas Tax, and Butler's action slashing the NDIS to bits would make Scomo proud - straight out of the neoliberal play book. Chevron's GM Kynan Scarr says: "Across both facilities [at the Gorgon and Wheatstone projects] we're paying around $1.8 billion a year to operate and maintain these facilities." He should have gone on to say that all this is reimbursed by the price they charge their customers for the gas and that their taxes are based on profits, not the amount of the running costs.

I can't fathom what is so "unexpected" about the rise of solar. Rooftop solar take up by Australians ad their own expense was globally high and state generators have not reacted quickly enough to the changing role of the poles and wires. Politicians have been abysmally slow in adjusting policy settings to encourage all of this and yet we have South Australia at almost 100% renewables for electricity generation with energy prices plummeting. What's causing the Greek yoghurt shortage in Australian supermarkets.
Easy easy. Make your own peeps. A litre uht full cream milk, couple heaped tablespoons powdered full cream milk. Warm up to 38 degrees C, mix in a small portion of your previous yoghurt, and the put in thermal container with some boiling water - then wait a few hours.
