Catching a Canberra bus for the first time in a while. The “rapid” 6. What. The. Fuck. How can anyone use this system?

Kinda seems like a bunch of terminally online political tragics and activists forget that 98% of the country pays little-to-no attention to politics day-to-day, and forgets that while they’re smart and plugged-in enough to know about restraint in petrol usage, perhaps a big attention-getting address right before school holidays and long weekends might be a good idea, even if it wasn’t entertaining enough for their oh-so-sophisticated-and-worldly selves.

RE: @QasimRashid@mastodon.social

The ACT government could learn something from this. But of course they’d need to have any idea that they might not win an election…

Oh AI. I’ve been using ChatGPT for a few nerdy Linux things — it gave me good curly quotes in nvim for example — but it just took me on the biggest wild goose chase trying to get my foot terminal transparent. Do this! Do that! Finally I asked the right question (perhaps?) and it admitted that Foot doesn’t support transparency at all.

Lesson in that. If it’s true.

Update: It wasn’t true! Worked it out the old fashioned way. Turns out

[colors]

does the trick.

Fucking HomeKit. “The garage door is not responding”. The garage door shows up on the wifi. Open garage door manually: “HomeKit notification “the garage door has been opened”. “Hey siri, close the garage door”. The garage door didn’t respond.

It. Is. A. Piece. Of. Shit.

Apple can’t make software any more.

@joe I really like my Butchers and Bicycles Mk3e, which I use for stuff and for kids, but they’re pretty rare and I suspect even used not in your price range. (I got mine for a steal from an odd bloke who used it to transport his Dalmatian). They’re also complex. A mate has an Omnium analogue which he loves. It’s far simpler. It’s very agile, but of course a trike is more stable with a heavy load.
