@etherdiver@ravenation.club That's one of the things I try to work into what I do, it's definitely a guiding principle. I think I picked that up from Brian Eno's little book "What Art Does". Someone else (can't remember who) said they got advice from Steve Albini when they were recording their album, he said "Don't forget why you came here". Both trying to encourage you to try to express your authentic self. Those things have stayed with me.

I realised as I was writing that "Dr Who and the Levenshulme Fair" sounds like it might have been one of those really creepy episodes where people at the Levenshulme Fair have been hypnotised and are behaving not-quite-normal enough to be sinister.

The first year I went to Burwell for the music summer school, I was in Andy Cutting's mixed band group, with violins, flutes, whistles and guitars. I stood next to him and we played this as part of our set.

When we were finished I went outside to phone my wife and cried. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.

@venya Oh crikey! Chickens are assholes if you want to have either a nice garden or grow vegetables! They will eat whatever they want, especially the lovely earthworm population have worked hard to encourage over a few seasons. @venya You've gone from looking at properties to moving really quickly. We moved in August last year, I think we put an offer in on our apartment at the beginning of May. It is really tiring, but it won't be long before you've got everything the way you want it! You'll be surprised how quickly the time flies.

@Psychonaut @autistics I've not sought out a SaLT yet, I only had my diagnosis in the middle of March, so still quite new to me. I'm also going through ADHD assessment very soon, so that's more of a focus for me really. I hope that advice helps.

@Psychonaut @autistics Some of the feedback I got after my diagnosis was a recommendation to book an appointment with a Speech & Language Therapist (SaLT). The assessor I spoke to said that CBT isn't always very helpful because it takes the position of trying to recondition irrational thoughts, but the way I experience the world isn't irrational to me. They said a SaLT could help with useful suggestions for language and propose strategies which could help me to self-advocate.
