@bagder@mastodon.social not the worst I've seen. On Windows, all the JS ecosystem (so essentially all the webdev ecosystem) and almost all async Rust I/O rely on the undocumented AFD NT API for readiness-based I/O.

@dystroy@mastodon.dystroy.org maybe consider using an arena or a bumper allocator like bumpalo? It helps greatly with cache locality and makes allocations as fast as they can get. I'm currently working on a language parser, and I'm using it to store all the data of the AST, which is recursively-dependant. If you just use a bumper, remember you will be leaking memory if you need to resize vectors after allocating something else, so you need to be able to predict sizes on most cases or use two or more in tandem.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social I mean, they've confirmed it can be bypassed via ADB, tho it's kinda funny we'll have to rely on Shizuku or custom ROMs for sideloading. What disappoints me is that this is actually *not that bad* of an idea, considering what's going on w/ scams in many countries to old ppl; I really wish Google had instead tried to do this as a framework or open solution, such that alt stores could also provide dev verification (F-Droid is notorious for replacing dev signatures w/ their own).

@nixCraft@mastodon.social isn't it just the NAND flash? IIRC Its controller is supposed to be inside the SoC, so you need to reprogram it to actually swap NAND flashes, but I don't know how feasible that is.

Yeah Bjarne, shoot yourself and your memory with your assault rifle, whatever. Not teaching undergrads about raw C++ pointers until week 2 will prevent segfaults the same way teaching kids how guns work prevents shootings /s /s /s /s... Edit: to be completely clear just in case (I'm not very good w/ sarcasm), I'm completely in favor of gun control and banning assault weapons.
