@mondstern the obvious for starters are Libre Office, Gimp and Inkscape if you need vector graphics beyond Libre Office capabilities. Free CAD if you design in 3D. Krita for a different take on graphics. Gnu Cash if you need to keep track of expenses and invoice people. Firefox or a Firefox based spin off browser eg Zen, Ice Wolf. Free Tube for YouTube without ads or tracking though Google keeps changing the API to break it.

Any chemists out there? Various &#39;lifestyle&#39; TV shows advocate using a paste of sodium bicarbonate+vinegar as a bathroom/kitchen cleaner. My wife thinks it is a good idea. I don&#39;t. My limited knowledge of chemistry (O level, 1968) says that the bicarb will neutralise the vinegar producing CO2, H2O and sodium acetate. Which I don&#39;t think has any cleaning properties. So what&#39;s the point? #household #cleaning #chemistry

Until I retired I ran my own website on Wordpress. When I retired I closed that but got involved with a local boat club and helped set up their site on WP. Left that a few years ago and someone else runs it now. Consequently although I&#39;ve noticed some disagreements about WordPress on here I haven&#39;t really been paying attention. Age verification on internet connected devices is contentious. There&#39;s no good answer. But, California (I think) is considering a law that would mandate age verification on all operating systems and then all apps would query the user profile before granting access. But what stops dodgy Dave down the pub, or some backstreet PC shop selling devices with a fake adult ID already set?
