  Honestly, I'm so disappointed in the EU Commission lately, with all the "W" nonsense, "Chat Control" and "AI" boosting. It seems that the folk are either tech-illiterate and just listen to what they are being told by the US, or that the EU is in a complete choke-hold by the US tech giants. Or even worse, both. I really was an EU fanboy, but this is breaking my heart.

  I'm planning on doing a long-ish thread, where each day I develop the same image with a different Saulala Sauce, giving it my best to make a nice, pleasing picture that matches my taste.   I feel defeated. Radios play generated songs, TV is ahowing generated ads, software I like is being taken over by 5 dudes with tokens, non-tech people are sending me images they generated themselves. I can't avoid the slop even if I went offline. Everything looks like shit, everything sounds like shit. Nobody cares about quality, nuance, intent or craft. Boun appetit.

  Not too sure how I feel about Blender receiving sponsorship feom Anthropic. From one point - Blender needs funds; without the funds there's no Blender. Being picky from who you receive donations from isn't really an option for any larger FOSS project that has people employed. From another point - what is Anthropic aiming to gain from this? Influnce in Blender's development / policies? I think unlikely. Trying to mend its public image / gain cred within artists? Likely.

  ...About "Faithful representation" in photography... I often use this example as a simplification of "no such thing as correct". Take this bust in a room with pure, deep blue light. You take a picture of it. If you were to "white balance" it, after some additional corrections, you would end up with image B. Now, what's the intent? Did you mean to depict how strong the blue light was in that room, or that the bust was made of beaut...

  I often see the sentiment the picture produced by modern lenses often feel 'clinical', 'synthetic' or 'soulless'. While vintage lenses produce 'warm', 'full-of-character', 'charming' images. This might entirely be solely because images made with 'perfect' lenses might be more difficult to read.

The current tally of my attempt at monetizing "I like photography": (My goal was/is to cover my part of rent, which currently is €350/mo) - YouTube videos: ~€12/mo - Saulala donations: ~€19/mo After taxes it's about €25/mo.   The whole "clanker is a racist slur" thing does smell of a pissing contest of who can piss further left. I do often refer to toilets as 'shitters' as well. Either way, we need a word that I can easily use to refer to "AI", LLM, ML, robot, bot, NL, anything that runs on electricity/fuel and was supposed to automate things for me, but doesn't work properly without being flagged as racist.
