I regret to inform you all that earlier today my children escaped their sandbox. I told them explicitly “stay in your sandbox” but they are just too powerful.

If you’re in San Francisco and feeling left out of the whole #jimothy experience, I want you to know we have our very own mutant raccoon. Her name is Lyra. She lives at the (free) Randall museum. She’s a star.

Just wrapping up a trip to nyc from sf and I want to share this one thing: There is ZERO benefit to you to participating in facial recognition. I had resolved to opt out but was worried I would make myself a nuisance or have to submit to some additional verification or something. No. You just say “I’m opting out of facial recognition” or “I don’t want my picture taken” and the person waves you through. That’s it. You save time. No one cares.

I have been cursed with the dumbest curse. Any time I get a new soap/shampoo that wants me to turn the spout to unlock it, I just turn and turn and turn forever and it just doesn’t unlock. I have never felt so dumb and I dont understand what is happening. Someone please release me from this curse please.

I came across a book that was called “English poetry from Tennyson to Whitman”. Ok cool. Flipped through it, all the usual suspects. Tennyson, Poe. Some poems from Dickens and Brontë for some reason. No Emily Dickinson. First i thought, maybe it’s just British poets? But Whitman’s right there. She’s in the right time period. There were (one or two) women in there. Someone more cultured than I tell me what is going on… #poetry #books #bookstodon

I am annoying my children mightily this morning as they want to play king and queen of the dragons and I’m insisting we should be a dragon anarcho-syndicalist commune

Ok etiquette question. You’re on a plane, you have a middle seat. Two people get on and they’ve bought the aisle and window seat in your row, in the hopes no one would take the middle. Seeing that their plan has failed, they offer you your choice of the aisle or window so they can sit together. Your feelings about this:

Braved the flight from sf to ny with the 5 and 3 year old They did pretty well, though they didn’t nap Half hour from landing we’re told, nope, diverting to Philadelphia. Storms. Land in phl. Told we’ll refuel and head out. Told we have to wait 30 mins for ground halt to be lifted at jfk. Told that again. Told that again. 3yo becoming more and more insane with every passing minute. We flee. Thank god for family friends in phl. See lightning as we’re driving in. Well…happy 4th to...

If you are in or around San Francisco and have kids, you have got to check out the open days for mission science workshop. Incredible array of things for kids to experiment with, build, take apart. And animals they can touch and learn about. I could not be more impressed and my kids are obsessed. https://www.missionscienceworkshop.org/ #SanFrancisco #sfba #parenting

“If you give ppl UBI, everyone’s just going to be making pots or painting or something!” Good!! Good! Can’t express how much more I want to fill my home with pots and paintings than with a stovetop that inexplicably connects to the internet.

Ok new business idea: Buy old meter maid cars. Rehab to be electric and autonomous but only go like 15mph max. Set them up so you can put a car seat / groceries / a dog in the back. Sit back and watch the $$ roll in.

Bees and ants don’t have any middle managers right? Like, the workers go out, they do whatever they do, there’s no one back at the hive like: “Hey Lisa, you’re short on nectar, you better get your thorax back out there and pull your weight or we’re gonna have to put you on a PIP” Very successful species tho

Masculinity is using your big man voice to yell “back door!” So the bus driver actually pays attention to the lady trying to get off.

Scene: me and kids are starting a movie when husband walks in Husband, casually: “what movie is this?” Me: “Toy Story” Husband gets a fearsome and haunted look on his face: “Which. One.” Me: “just the first one” Husband: “oh thank god” Yall Toy Story 3 really traumatized a whole generation didn’t it? (I still never saw it)

My kids caught some Rollie pollies and are keeping them as pets and based on the number and size of their compatriots in our yard, I think the outdoor Rollie pollies may be massing for battle.
