  I recently had an appointment at the Social Security office to apply to manage Uncle's Social Security for him, and to request a replacement card since he lost the old one. I was seen on time.   I honestly don't know how I feel about the fact that when you download a #Google Doc as an ODT file (i.e., the format used by #LibreOffice), it embeds the fonts used in the document and doesn't give you the option to prevent that. I just downloaded a 6-page text Google Doc as an ODT, and it was 3.2MB. When I unchecked the font embedding option in LibreOffice (which took me a while to find!) and resaved it, it was 45KB. 🤦

  Reading today about the cruelty inflicted upon detainees at ICE c̶o̶n̶c̶e̶n̶t̶r̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶c̶a̶m̶p̶s̶ detention centers, it occurs to me that government legitimacy requires a commitment to humane treatment of everyone.
