  Bell Canada: long fine print on erroneous cancellation penalty calculations with this additional fine print: Ce montant sera réduit lorsque le Code sur les services sans fil l'exige. Aka: we will overcharge you, and only if you complain will we accept to correct the cancelation penalty to be in line with Wireless code. Congrats to the Bell Canada Intentional Billing Error department for overcharging consumers knowing most of them will never challenge.

  Have listened to some of the coverage from France about the fires. I think de Havilland greately underestimates the importance of the "Canadair" brand. The media all clamour for information about the Canadairs and why France doesn't have any more. (Canadair is the CL415 water bombers). French govt officials are careful to not explain the model has been out of production since 2015 and that a new company is trying to restart production and just state that they can only produce...

  If I were Prime Minister, this is how I would respond to Trump's new tariffs: I hope that the United States Cabinet and Congress will deal with the irrational emotional outbreaks and start to rebuild positive relations with former allies. In considering import of Canadian aluminium to be a national security risk, it sends strong message that we are no longer allies. Congress needs to confirm in law whether this is what the United States policy is or whether this is result of dementia.

  @NunavutBirder@mas.to Got a better image of the MB railway washout Definitely where I thought it would be and fairly serious. It will take a while for CN to fix this. (pic 2 is from 2025 as reference). Curious if CN will build a bridge or just embankement with culvert (hopefully a big culvert). Climate change bringing more powerful storms means many culverts may no longer be big enough to handle such storms. This is an example.

  From Thurso to Grenville, it was on the 148. Back there there was no "50" road that pretends to be a highway, so more traffic on it, but it had solid paved shoulder all the way. Last pic is the CP rail bridge across the Rivière Rouge. Single track (now owned by Genessee Wyoming/Québec/Gatineau railway.

  Admin tribunal has ruled that unlike public transit considered essential service, the REM workers are not covered by the obligation to at least provide rush hour service if they strike. So a REM strike could totally shut the service.   On July 9h 1986, 40 years ago today, I cycled from Upsala ON though Thunder Bay and stopped at Pass Lake Ontario. 193km, 8hours 92 minutes, average 19.0, maximum 59,2kmh. Upsula/17/Kakabeka Falls/17/Thunder Bay/17B/17/Pass lake Mostly on the dreaded Highway 17, with a bit of respite inside Thunderbay. And passed a venerable site.

  40 years ago on July 6, I bicycled from Gladstone MB to Portage la Prairie to Winnipeg, to Prawda. This included crossing the longitudinal centre of Canada at -96.80927 This turned out to be the longest distance in trip unlike my comment earlier. 265km , maximum speed of 55.4 and whopping 34.0kmh average with luggage. Winds at 60 from the west.

  @Milnoc@mstdn.ca When I was in Taipei, the conference brought us to the night market (Which I think is Shilin). Today, I find out there are now multiple night markets, so you need to do your research on whcih to visit (or do different ones every night). Other towns in Taiwan have night markets. As well, Darwin Austraklia has one on certain days of week !
