Admin tribunal has ruled that unlike public transit considered essential service, the REM workers are not covered by the obligation to at least provide rush hour service if they strike. So a REM strike could totally shut the service. Tribunal does not consider REM shutdown would be as disruptive for the city as STM shutdown is to traffic, congestion, ability to goto work etc. (It should have said Montréal is use to frequent REM shutdowns :-) la Presse: https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/grand-montreal/2026-07-10/en-cas-de-greve-du-rem/les-parties-ne-seraient-pas-obligees-de-maintenir-des-services-essentiels.php

@jfmezei@cosocial.ca I’m still waiting for my refund from the STM for *NOT* providing service in June, September, October and November 2025 They did that in the 2000s, this is no different.
