#KDE 's #Gwenview 'sidebar features', esp Annotate, could really, really gain from some extra love. Some features being buggy is one thing, but the amount of times I've seen people use it to annotate and then miss to save it, losing their edits completely, simply bcos of its confusing separate window just to annotate and its placements of buttons etc. is just not ideal.

I didn’t notice how quickly my cat’s drink from his water fountain gets so cold so quickly by being in an AC room. Not an issue when he was an outdoor cat, since his fountain would be outdoors. How do people, especially those living in cold countries, keep the water in ‘regular’ room temp? I tried putting warm water but istg it got cold pretty instantly too despite having AC set to only like ~28, 27. edit: oh but googling says it’s fine that they’re cold and cats love that. really? i just thoug...

#Flatpak for graphical apps, #Nix packages for CLI apps seems to be a great combo for immutable systems like #SteamOS? Tho I reckon Nix packages wouldn't really help for installing 'system-level' things like drivers or even things like #KDE Plasma widgets, Dolphin service menus, and such?

I didn’t realise how expensive custom laser cut acrylic panels are.. Idk if I’d like to pay ~136 MYR just to partially cover up them grills on my cat’s cage…

omfg i'm so happy my #Daikin AC can finally be added to #homeassistant thanks to this custom integration, let's go!!! there were plenty of Daikin integrations available, but all of them served only Daikin EU or wherever else, not GO DAIKIN users including in Malaysia. this integration works specifically for GO DAIKIN, and it's so bloody simple to set up. 🔗 https://github.com/doubleukay/godaikin-ha

holy crap #samsung UI looks garbage even compared to other #android ‘skins’ lololol but #samsungpay integrating #duitnowQR now is seriously cool. they’re starting with #maybank but seems like they’ll add #shopeepay too. #apple needs to get in on this instead of only supporting the ‘traditional’ NFC payments. cooler if they can even figure out supporting these QR payments without internet connection, but dk if dats technically feasible. 🔗 https://soyacincau.com/2026/07/24/samsung-wallet-malaysia...

Any #mushroom experts can tell me what’s this wild mushroom outside our house? I wanna know if it’s safe to leave it, having #cats around?

i like how most things in #homeassistant is documented (i.e. infra as code). automations, scripts, etc. are just yaml files u cld store and reuse. it's too bad helpers, another important component of HA is not as portable and reusable tho - i prolly understand why, it may be challenging to implement it otherwise, but it sucks that i cant keep my helpers as files i can then just reapply/reuse.

Getting a #MacBook to use on its own - great. Today I'm reminded - using it as a desktop... not so much, unless you use #Apple peripherals too like their official display and trackpad/mouse. Fortunately, keyboard's unaffected by this #macOS incompetence. For trackpads - sure, Apple's is the best I've used still and is something I'll always buy and use, happily. Display - nah, even if they're affordable. They're just too limited and I'd go just as nuts if I was us...

I'm sorry but if you're Malaysian and you claim a majority of the people around you are either excited/optimistic abt AI rather than the other way round - you're probably old cos it def ain't that at fuckin all in my age group and below lol. Not saying these people don't use AI at all, but they sure ain't positive/optimistic abt them whatsoever - how could you be, when it's not only built on theft but also, 1) the biggest threat to job security in decades, and worst o...

People in the UK don't use AC - and shame those who do, even in extreme heatwave (and people have died bcos of it, esp elderlies) just bcos it's bad for the environment? Wow. I'm genuinely amazed lol (and worried at the same time). That's pretty unthinkable for someone who lives in AC (almost) 24/7. Shame on me, I guess.

Is #Nix a stable thing on #macOS (#Apple Silicon Macs in particular, if that matters)? I remember hearing that the setup process is pretty disruptive - requiring some manual partitioning or wtv, is that still the case? If it's worth the hassle, since I'm already using #Nix on #Linux, I may want to have it on my #MacBook as well. I'm also curious just how usable are the graphical packages on macOS when installed using Nix, seeing how even on (non-#nixOS) Linux, graphical apps are a lo...

Does #KDE Plasma support setting up fingerprints for auth in their settings natively, does it require a not-installed-by-default package if so? Tryna see if it's possible to get fingerprint auth on my #ArchLinux#EndeavourOS PC - and see what type of hardware I need that'll be supported.

My baby, Mocha needs to fast tonite - cos he might be getting neutered tmr xD

Just a quick update: Mocha has successfully been neutered this morn xD He stayed w us last nite so we cld enforce him fasting, he'll stay w us tonite so we cld take care of him as he recovers, and we'll see if he needs to stay w us for another nite tomorrow. Barely got any sleep last nite with him constantly waking me. Also this experience reminded me how Mocha rarely meows, but rather, he 'chirps'. It's so cute lol, he's literally a lil, cute birdie.

ok the last time I tried the #AirPods Pro 3 at the #Apple Store... it was pretty shit (compared to my APP1) - the concern I had abt comfort was immediately gone cos it was just as comfortable (if not more), but the transparency/noise cancelling mode was awful (which is amazing on APP1), and the sound was meh. but i guess that was a fluke cos i tried it out again today, knowing i'll be getting them anyway (cos my wife wants my APP1 - which is still perfect to this day even after more than 5...

My Mocha always makes the saddest 'cries' asking to be let out whenever we bring him into our room xD He loves coming into the house, but he clearly wants to be outdoors too most of the time. Idk if he'd ever be more 'chill' about staying inside. Tbf he is 'chill' when he's inside and very easy to take care of, but he's also not gonna stop periodically asking u to be let out, or try to bolt whenever the door's open.

I've self-hosted my own #Forgejo server for a while now and it's been such a freaking delight to work with, and gives me some relief that my code/#Git repos have a place outside of #GitHub. When I started this however, I couldn't fully migrate everything I had to Forgejo - as some were still tied to GitHub's actions and their hosted runners. Before I could migrate them, I'd need to set up runners of my own on the Forgejo server. Seeing GitHub's rapid deterioration lately...

It's been this way forever n idk why #OBS allows disabling a source on #Windows, but doesn't on #Linux. Why? Pretty stupid that I always have to completely delete my Camera source from OBS before getting on calls on e.g. a browser while having OBS open in the background, cos OBS is holding my cam hostage eventho I'm not using it or have it in the foreground or wtv. On Windows this was easily solvable by simply disabling the source - tho I've noticed since years ago when I migrate...

Oh wow, I guess there's work being done on bringing back the Oxygen theme to #KDE Plasma? I've never used/not been familiar with Oxygen but it looks kinda like #Apple 's old #macOS or even Liquid Glass and I super dig it compared to the flat designs we have today on #Linux. Exciting. edit: there's some parts that look like classic #Windows instead, and some of its icons do look a bit... industrial rather than friendly imo but still, a nice, inspiring design overall rather than b...

Seeing how the #KDE #Dolphin bug of not being able to paste from clipboard when creating a folder/file right from Dolphin UNLESS the text ure pasting is copied from Dolphin itself (so freaking weird) has continued to exist for months, and needing to work around it every single time by creating the dirs/files from the terminal like a caveman, I'm almost tempted to create a service menu to create folder/file which prompts for a text input you could then paste into... but one, that sounds reall...

Drove to Penang this morning, first long drive w my wife, and also my first vacation since having Mocha in my life and no one’s home 😭😭😭 I can see on the camera that he’s just loafed at our porch, looking out the gate waiting for us to come home - when we wouldn’t be till Monday 😭 He hasn’t eaten from our auto feeder either - I’ve seen him eat from our neighbours’ bowls they’ve set outside with no one around but with us specifically, he’s so used to us being tgt w him to accompany him eat that h...
