#Flatpak for graphical apps, #Nix packages for CLI apps seems to be a great combo for immutable systems like #SteamOS? Tho I reckon Nix packages wouldn't really help for installing 'system-level' things like drivers or even things like #KDE Plasma widgets, Dolphin service menus, and such?

@irfan@sakurajima.social on Fedora cosmic, you can install nix with graphical stuff, and widgets with home manager, although it's very recent and I haven't gotten a chance to test it out that much. https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/nix So in theory you definitely could, probably take a little bit of experimenting. The best way would just have it baked into the image already, easily turned on by a system deamon.
