  Shower Thought: Technology is amoral, but it should be regulated to the extent that its users are immoral. Similarly, separating the Art from the Artist disregards the harm to the moral fabric implicitly condoned by engaging the Art. What the athlete does on-the-field shouldn't be isolated from how they behave off-the-field. Not entirely original or fully qualified / correct thought, I admit.   I'm often amused when I hear folks explain that the top 10% of households pay ~60% of all taxes in the US (Federal, State, Local, etc) - as if that is a statistic that suggests the rich are over-taxed. My dude - if income were more evenly distributed, then the rich wouldn't have to carry such a high tax burden!   In early childhood,I had acres around me to play in. Later I had miles of safe streets to ride my bike on. As a hormonic teenager, I had the unadulterated internet to explore. Like the first parts of my childhood which have been made untenable, the last part is under siege by US Congress via KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act).   Reflecting on how there are so few public spaces where you can just hang out without spending money (ie libraries, parks) in the US - and it totally makes sense. The system is optimized for people using their time to either (1) make money, or (2) spend money. Time spent any other way is a perverse affront to what it means to be American.   Some people I know in a nearby town are excited about a Chick-fil-A opening up in their city. I'm sure it'll be the perfect accompaniment to the really distinct character staples their city like Valvoline, 7-11, Safeway, Dairy Queen, and Starbucks. I really fucking hate developer driven cities: No soul. Can't exist there without spending money. No reason to visit - just places to stop at as you drive through to more interesting places.

  re: Homelabs... I'm just using an old laptop and an old mini pc, and sometimes an old raspberry pi 3 from 2015 to do my nerdery. I know some folks have more sophisticated setups - some even with server racks! I guess I'm still in "amateur" homelab territory - at what point do I need to more serious RAID arrays and what not? #Homelab

  1/🧵 Many consider Ranni's ending to be the "best" in terms of outcomes. I vehemently disagree. True, it is probably "best" for the Tarnished, but it resolves none of the problems that are within the Lands Between. It leaves the same power-vacuum in place as exists at the start of the game.   In highschool/college, I was focused on "getting a job" with a good employer. It felt like that was the norm of thinking. In hindsight, I was just carried along in a line of thinking that I needed to convince someone else to hire me. Of course I would expect that from institutions of credentialism.   I sometimes manually convert the aviation checklists for emergency procedures to plain text files (markdown) so I can study them on my phone instead of reading them in a 6.5MB 368 page PDF. I decided to see if AI was up to the task since it is slow/painful work to transpose them into a nice looking markdown table. Based on some obviously wrong transcription in the checklist, I won't be trusting AI with anything aviation related.
