  I'm in a weird situation at home where we currently have *three* internet connections (which is between 2 and 3 too many), each of which sucks, and one sucks in very different ways than the other two. Are there any home options (e.g. OpenWRT?) that can do anything clever with multiple upstream connections, beyond just fallback/warm spare? Can you split traffic meaningfully without the upstream provider's help?

  I just went to the store to buy a bunch of air filter refills, and learned that they now have Bluetooth enabled ones. Not, like, the whole machine, but the actual individual filters have little tags on them with some sort of Bluetooth ability. I considered buying one just to see what it does/shows up as, but didn’t want to encourage that BS.

  6yo has been on-and-off afraid of spiders recently, but also watched Into the Spider-Verse last week.   I just read someone complaining that the Raspberry pi zero 2w was too slow again, and, like, okay, it’s not the fastest thing you could buy. But also: it’s got 4 1Ghz cores. I built a “jukebox” that played compressed audio it pulled off the network with a 90Mhz Pentium. Friggin’ web browsers…

  Started the day off buying a blowtorch. Ended it smelling like char, dirt, sweat, and linseed oil. Spent most of the time in between outside with a friend while our kids played around (and briefly, under appropriate supervision, got to use the blowtorch). That’s a damn good day.

  I have a copy of Godzilla Minus Zero on DVD. I’d like to rip it to my file server. HandBreak reliably stops encoding at ~49 minutes in and acts like it’s succeeded. I’ve never seen that before. Any ideas? #HandBreak

  I've been working part-time from a coworking space for a little while now. Overall, I think it's been a net win, but wow are there a lot more AI-friendly conversations here than in the coffee shop. I need my headphones more so I don't glare at everyone.

  I'm surprised Cook's leaving now. I really thought Apple was going to keep him on until Trump's influence started to wane (out of office, or a big swing in the midterms), then have Cook step down and implicitly blame all the boot licking on him (although he's clearly not a sole actor there). I suspect he's staying on in his new role so Apple can continue the boot licking without having to sully Ternus.

  My partner and I were having a mild disagreement about one of today’s tasks. Partner: “Okay we’re not doing it today. We can talk about it later. I can’t deal with your attitude today.” Me: “What? I don’t think I’m…” Partner: “You have an attitude.   I have an SVG file which refers to a font file with @font-face. It's working properly. But when including that svg file in html using an <img> tag, the font isn't loaded. I presume this is some security thing guarding against transitive loads. But what's the right practice here? What are the actual restrictions? How do I make the svg so that it renders properly in html?

  I want to get access to iMessage from outside Apple's platforms. I have a Mac I can leave running at home. I do not need all the features, just a way to send/receive text and be notified when there's something incoming. Is there something that will do this? In my mind, it's a module for an IRC server I can leave running on the Mac... 😂
