It’s just not true that most opponents to genAI don’t understand its utility… it’s that we think the ethics *actually matter*. I have a good understanding of the capabilities of these systems. I understand their utility. But if the ethics are crap (and they are), why should I care? This framing is just to make people who want to use them feel more comfortable setting ethics aside.
