Started the day off buying a blowtorch. Ended it smelling like char, dirt, sweat, and linseed oil. Spent most of the time in between outside with a friend while our kids played around (and briefly, under appropriate supervision, got to use the blowtorch).
That’s a damn good day.

The blowtorch was a whole lot of fun, and the oiling process was very calming. The end results look really nice (sort of a shame they’re getting buried in the ground, mostly; if I had known, I might’ve budgeted more time and materials to do the whole thing); I want a lot more things to look this way now. I can feel the call of the programmer-to-woodworking pipeline.
