  Lovely to see that the new Crannog is complete! Crannogs were iron-age loch-dwellings, found across Scotland 2500 years ago. 18 once existed on Loch Tay, where the Crannog Centre is. We used to visit the Crannog (replica) every year for halloween so, like so many people, I was gutted when it burnt down in 2021. Wonderful to see it rebuilt - the first of three.   My go of a pineapple upside down cake for Everyone Bakes the Same Cake. I used Nagi Maehashi's recipe from Recipe Tin Eats - https://www.recipetineats.com/pineapple-upside-down-cake/ It's a bit like a syrup sponge, with a soft spongey texture and the caramel syrup soaking through the top. It's giving school pudding, though I don't think I ever had it at school. Shout out @ottaross for making #EBTSC a thing. #Food #Baking

  I only have the first edition of Alias MacAlias, which honestly has been a complete nuisance ever since I bought it a decade ago. Borrowed 2nd ed from Perth & Kinross libraries, and they sent it through from Blairgowrie (where Hamish Henderson was born) - alongside a lil leaflet about Henderson's life and Blair library's bust of him.   Trees at the Hermitage. One of the tallest trees in Britain used to be here, a 61m (200ft) Douglas Fir, but it came down in winds in 2017. Still quite a lot of big ones though... #Perthshire #Scotland #Hermitage #Trees

  Got a good amount of knitting in over the weekend and I've made it down the body of my jumper. I decided to do a split hem: as I mostly intend to wear it inside-out the 'wrong side' of the ribbing ends on knits; but, to make it more reversible, I've done a slip-stitch edge to the split which still looks relatively neat if worn on the 'right side'. Quite like how it's turning out, though never gonna call it by any other name than the ugly-ya...

  Now the gift-knitting is done for a while I can return to working on my ugly-yarn jumper. Knitting it in stockinette with the intent to turn it wrong-side out when finished. This is where I got to before putting it on hold (end of the yoke), and now working my way through the body. #Knitting

  Weekend cooking/baking: - Last night, smoked salmon pasta - a last-minute idea to use up a bunch of ingredients.   Nice walk up to the Black Rock Viewpoint above Kenmore and Loch Tay - although wish the view had looked along the loch as well as towards the village. (Ofc. a lot of Kenmore is now owned by a massive American real estate and 'private residential club' firm, who bought up and are 'developing' the castle, local businesses, houses and land, so a lot of the village centre feels a bit gross now.   Last week @GrahamCampbell and I started a short evening fish-cooking course. The first week was plaice en papillote, which we remade tonight as cod en papillote. We are both pretty novice with fish but this felt like a very simple start - hoping things'll gear up a bit in the coming weeks. This week we'll be filleting a fish, so looking forward to that! 1st photo is from the course (which we decanted into tupperware), so 2nd in a bowl tonight with marginally better plating 😅...
