Wake me when an ai “breaks containment”, gets into HR, finds 7500 employees illegally misclassified as contractors and files their paperwork with the local departments of labour and/or employment for years of backpay.

Hey have you set up, checked and tested your backups? Automated them? Made sure they’re running? Checked the whole cascade works if you have that? Any backup is infinitely better than none.

it seems kinda creepy that I have 100% of my father’s sex chromosome DNA. Like dude I’m your first kid and I got ALL of it?! But only 75% of my mother’s. But that’s 234M base pairs from mum, and only 213Mb from dad. So not too dissimilar. I’m like a man and a woman had a baby or something.

You’re caught on the spot and offered $1000 per correct word if you recite any existing piece of text you know - accumulating up to the point you make your first mistake. How much do you walk away with?

You suddenly get a narrator describing your life and there’s no way to turn it off - everyone can hear it. While shopping, at work, at home, with friends - the voice narrating your every move goes on. Who do you hope is the voice of this narrator?

Jason Statham in SHIP (2026) Also Jason Statham in BANK, SAFE, PRISON, PLANE, BEES, SHARK, GUN, DAUGHTER and REVENGE. Upcoming movies... Saw some U(n)FOs — nice to see flying saucers taking safety seriously. High-vis, Australian made, and materials adhere to Australian safety regulations AS 2070 and AS/NZS 4020!

The best point transitioning is at around eighteen months when either pyrokinesis or telekinesis kicks in. And nobody mentions it! It just becomes so background normal it’s like “haha yeah I reheat my coffee all the time I forgot what it was like before that” (and some folk get both!)

The trouble with brands re-using names between them and separated by time is that some git comes along and connects the two and now it's there in your head forever.

1960s: the computer when programmed correctly can perform trillions of operations without a single mistake: Pentium fdiv bug era: in some rare cases excel may let a bug in the CPU slip past. LLM era: we rolled 6x10E9 dice and days have 37 hours, finger count is random, your files were deleted lol.

“Stop making your pain your whole personality” My lovely it’s shaped every experience I’ve had, stopped me from doing others I’d have chosen, forced me to take paths and experiences I’d have rather not, and sculpted the shape of the few precious free parts left. There’s not much else. The precise geometry of that is still me, of course. A little grace, thanks.

An angel appeared squinting, moppy bedhead over one eye, gripping a double affogato (which is not doing enough) while yawning through too-little sleep, and wearing untied trainers and an oversized hoodie emblazoned with pink bubble writing that said “BE NOT AFRAID!!! :D”
