More results came in from the Michigan race for #ElSayed and #stevens that shows something interesting. Namely, if you look at how the results have changed for Wayne County over the evening, the 52.3% to 44.4% margin that favored Stevens hasn't held up. I was right. Late, in-person voters are trending more El-Sayed in Detroit. That pretty much squashes Stevens last chance of winning. Congrats to El-Sayed for a close win!

RE: https://mastodon.social/@KraftTea/117040632410905698 Well, that's amusing... The CEO who is building cheap, easily mountable AI-powered smart drone accessories is a Ukrainian who also owns another company. Their smart pet camera with built-in laser toy costs $30 more than the bulk price for their standard autonomous AI suicide drone controller. 🇺🇦 But of course, it *does* have a built-in laser, and is built to withstand pets and last for multiple, multiple uses. Did I mention the pet c...

At some point, Ukraine is going to need credible assurances with teeth that Russia will honor whatever deal is reached. So, for Ukraine's diplomat with the UK to basically say that the best, most credible deterrent is off-the-table? That's defeatist. Almost to the point of asking, "Who is paying this guy's salary? Russia or Ukraine?" I'd rather see Ukraine sacrifice lost territory in order to get REAL deterrence, than to see a repeat of this war again. I'm sure man...

I hope Russia really enjoys that massive 88 square kilometers they conquered last month. Approximately 5% the size of Butte, Montana... population 34,000. You're probably asking yourself: Why lose 43,000 troops to take 1/20th of Butte?! Well, you might if you were ignorant & arrogant, for example. Or if you had such a weak & fragile ego - or an equally weak and fragile grasp on power - that you couldn't dare say no to losing 43,000 troops a month, because, well... maybe you nee...

Cenk Uygur, the founder, CEO, main host, and primary owner of The Young Turks declared war today on Ukraine, with an endless stream of Russian talking points. Perhaps he thought nobody would notice he was paid by the Russian state via RT. Here he is, from 2014, criticizing MSNBC's coverage of the Russian invasion of Crimea and CNN's "soap opera" coverage of the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, shot down using a Russian Buk missile system from Russia's 53rd Anti-airc...

Ukraine announces a new record for highest drone interception. 21,000 ft. / 6400m, done over southern Ukraine by Lasar's Group to a Russian Zala that badly wanted to escape detection, while presumably spotting for artillery & missile strikes. Russian recon drones are increasingly vulnerable and being hunted down by Ukrainian interceptors, so they have increasingly been flying higher altitude missions to reduce their risks and the high cost of losing them.

Another reason why Medvedev is out there now, denying rumors of another big round of mobilizations?! Russians are already pulling their money out of banks and the stock market, and either making plan to or already fleeing the country! (It sure would be a shame if Russian jobs went unfilled, productivity decreased, and salary inflation increased significantly, just based on rumors, wouldn't it?!) https://www.kyivpost.com/post/81241

RE: https://mastodon.social/@scalzi/116968541476805915 This is kind of wonderful, though. I use AI, but am I going to pay for it?! (chuckles!) Oh no no no! Basically, this is Microsoft, waving a white flag and cutting their losses. That's worth celebrating! Others will join them, soon... The time to bail on ANY AI is when they create ANY business model, that imposes ANY demands on you, as a consumer. Ads or otherwise. Period, end of story.

This kind of emergency market manipulation is very expensive, of course. You would expect a sudden flood of government debt as a result. So, when I read this article by Russian milblogger Maxim Kalashnikov talking about how he detected big one day spikes in Russia's deficit, starting shortly after this most recent panic selling in Russia's market meltdown triggered off, well... Let's just say there might be a reason for all that sudden "deficit spending", clocking in at 1...

When does that happen? Does that happen at all?!

People are connecting the dots on Andrew Tate, who groomed and had sex with a 14-year-old Slovakian, as a way of developing his sex business. Tate lied about this repeatedly, as a way of dodging the age of consent laws for Slovakia, which might allow him to engage in sexual relations with a 15-year-old. Regardless, the age of the minor and what she was doing ABSOLUTELY matters when she was sex trafficked to other countries.

I would say that nothing is scaling precisely as predicted, or precisely on schedule... largely because Russia reacts to getting clobbered by hunkering down, which slows their advance. Ukraine's plans are still scaling aggressively & predictably, despite Russian CYA and the uncertainties of war. The aggressive level of incremental growth of Ukraine's plans is what is shifting the dynamics of the war. Russia may try to delay again by mobilizing troops, but it won't change the ult...

Stanimir Dobrev / delfoo reports that the situation in parts of Russia are getting measurably worse. Namely, they are running out of their local fuel stockpiles. Presumably, this is happening elsewhere too... ----------- In Southern Yakutia they are introducing limits on fuel sales due to low remaining volumes. At the Tommotsk depot there's 10 tons of AI-92, 25 tons of Ai-95 and 34 tons of diesel. At Nizhne Bestyahsk there, 6 tons of Ai92, 9 tons of Ai-95 and 27 tons of diesel.

While not a massive fall as yet, Moscow, which has been a huge bastion for both new construction and high housing prices, is now seeing their housing market slow considerably and their new construction practically cease. Housing prices actually falling in central Moscow is something altogether new. Lots of people's real estate investments are also collapsing in value, of course... or simply on hold indefinitely, waiting for construction and prices to come back.
