At some point, Ukraine is going to need credible assurances with teeth that Russia will honor whatever deal is reached. So, for Ukraine's diplomat with the UK to basically say that the best, most credible deterrent is off-the-table? That's defeatist. Almost to the point of asking, "Who is paying this guy's salary? Russia or Ukraine?" I'd rather see Ukraine sacrifice lost territory in order to get REAL deterrence, than to see a repeat of this war again. I'm sure many Ukrainians feel the same.
