This kind of emergency market manipulation is very expensive, of course. You would expect a sudden flood of government debt as a result. So, when I read this article by Russian milblogger Maxim Kalashnikov talking about how he detected big one day spikes in Russia's deficit, starting shortly after this most recent panic selling in Russia's market meltdown triggered off, well... Let's just say there might be a reason for all that sudden "deficit spending", clocking in at 100B rubles/day.
