@jodmentum@apobangpo.space it’s really hard living like this. I’m scared constantly that people I love are going to leave their house one day to go run errands and disappear. I know we still have further down we can fall into fascism which is a separate set of fears entirely.

Sri Lanka was a haven of tourism in the period where anti-JVP repression had military barrages consider that any male between 15 and 30 in the insurrection area was to be killed as a JVP sympathizer, and military patrols scoured the forest early in the morning to remove corpses before the tourists would wake up to hike.

@jodmentum@apobangpo.space Actually, this not not really new. The color of skin always determined the risk of getting pulled over. And shot. By the way: they do not shoot that often in Germany, but getting checked for no reason is here also possible. It depends on clothing, whether they see me as a Bavarian or ask for my passport, expecting to see one from Afghanistan...

@jodmentum@apobangpo.space as a US citizen, i am afraid to travel outside the country for fear i'll be just randomly seized at the border upon returning. and i'm an average white cis woman. it doesn’t seem to matter if you're a citizen or not anymore; anyone can apparently be suspected of anything.
