@beccadax Also, like somebody else said, why in the name of Dr. Seuss' unmentionables would NASA allow as much as a single scrap of proprietary corporate software aboard a goddamn spaceship!? I just don't see the an Apollo 13-style successful wrangling of an unforeseen technical space problem when Wiseman is on the horn with Microsoft tech support because an Outlook bug bricked all the onboard computers...

@beccadax NASA should fire everyone and hire Curious Marc instead. He'll rip out all that new-fangled hardware and replace it with refurbished, but fully working vintage hardware with a proven flight record.

that take is stone cold! we made it to the moon and back several times, safely, with FORTRAN IV, IBM S/360s, a database that makes my hair recede back into my head, and fairly early land-mobile-radio two-way communications systems! I'm frankly shocked we even made it off the ground, it goes to show how diabolically screwed modern computing is when it comes to literally everything

@beccadax @Meyerweb . So true. I am fairly sure their PCD’s are a mostly a #Microsoft Office stack. They’ve mentioned Surface, Outlook, and One Note. And clearing caches/cookies for their (presumably web-based) document share (is SharePoint still a thing?). Besides all the silly problems, still a giant step forward to have all these modern conveniences compared to Apollo! I’m still blown away that there is a live stream. https://i.imgflip.com/35lra9.jpg
