Now I'm curious how the data looks for us nerds over here on the fediverse: where do you register your domains? If at multiple places, let's interpret this as if you were registering a domain today, where would you register it? tackily if you don't mind boosting I'd actually like a lot of data on this I'm really curious!

@gintoxicating Tucows (Hover). I chose them because they’re Canadian. Fun fact, enom is also owned by Tucows.

@gintoxicating https://njal.la for me, a bit pricier than others but they take Monero and offer truly anonymous registration (with opt-in ability to provide real registration info), and have a bunch of ccTLDs for plenty of jurisdiction choice if you're worried about censorship/copyright/trademark disputes.

@gintoxicating I was on Google, but they sold it all to Squarespace so I am there, but it was not a decision I had any say in.

@gintoxicating somewhat embarrassingly, I'm using AWS. my previous registrar gave me basically zero control over the DNS, and AWS was the only one i knew at the time that would give me total control over everything.

@gintoxicating I don't host any instances but I registered my website with WebSavers! I found them via my new favorite repository for canadian tech alternatives, and these guys are based in Halifax. The repo in question : https://worktree.ca/taffer/canadian-alternatives

@gintoxicating I currently use DreamHost. Although my renewal is coming up, and the price more than doubled compared to last year. So I may jump somewhere else.

@gintoxicating All my domains are with Mythic Beasts, and I'd happily use them again. But I discovered on my first renewal that they are a Tucows reseller so went with that option. I've never dealt with Tucows directly so no idea what they're like.

@gintoxicating I answered Namecheap, as that's who I use now, but I'd also give a shout-out to 34sp.com, who I used to use. I had multiple domains with them and they were always good.

@gintoxicating hosting.de (no, not hostinger). Very good prices, excellent API, domain registration independent of DNS service with very flexible DNS server options (including primary, secondary, secondary with hidden primary) making it trivial to migrate to them without interruptions, subaccounts with fine granular access privilege management (if you want to let your own customers manage their DNS but not buy more domains, for example) and so much more outside of domains/DNS

@gintoxicating Gandi.net but its so expensive that im looking more and more to Porkbun but I didn't migrate my domains over Porkbun because not EU based... I do have some few new domain over there but I am a bit reticent to move even if its like 50% cheaper...
