so, after my second covid shot i acquired chronic spontaneous urticaria. i basically break out into hives to no reason and it only gets worse from scratching. (to be clear, i'm not anti-vax, these things can happen with anything that messes with your immune system, and i was just unlucky enough for it to happen to me from a shot) after like 6 years it's finally starting to alleviate. i don't have to take nearly as many antihistamines nearly as often anymore. down from a full dose e...

i hate this trend of ue5 games with anime characters in a hyper realistic asset store world that are solely designed to waste as much of your time as possible this is a post about Echoes of Aincrad. do not recommend.

long time vim user taking the dive into emacs and i'm just completely baffled, but making slow progress

still poking around alternative editors to neovim and helix feels really good. it's using vim keybindings for the most part so very little learning curve, and supports all the features i need out of a terminal ide, with no shady external dependencies or plugins. there is at least one commit in it that was co-authored by claude, but there are positive discussions that they may be incorporating an acceptable (to me) ai contribution policy. i still have emacs in my back pocket if it doesn&#39...

depression resurfacing again, probably because i can't seem to get anything done or do anything right lately :< part of it is from being stuck in impossible positions at work, but most of it is from the encroaching fascism and capitalist rot that's become the background radiation of life.

lol. ms teams broke something dumb and their feedback site doesn't load at all gods everything is such trash now. :<

i'm at that stage with our network where i'm considering deploying my own dns server to make things more resilient.

bleh, got my #meshtastic hardware in. range is abysmal with the stock antennas, and my mobile unit suddenly stopped acquiring gps satellites after working fine for a few days.

    art hard :<

not much improvement with new antennas, and still can't figure out the issue with gps not working anymore. internal connections all seem solid and the tty reports it can find and initialize the gps module, it just doesn't report anything after the initial "no sats" message. kinda discouraged by the whole thing, tbh...

i must have had a power surge or something over night. server tripped and got stuck in an unbootable state, one of my monitors died, and one of my keyboards is randomly not registering certain keys. fixed the first two with a power cycle and replacing capacitors respectively, but the keyboard is still being annoying. :/

someone sent me a table of "security issues" for me to review, despite not being in security i didn't recognize the report format, and it had some nonsense like a "high security" issue where ubuntu is downloading from our internal deb mirror over http instead of https (which is completely normal for debian/ubuntu since the packages and indices are all signed with a private key) so of course i ask where it came from, and they tell me it came from copilot i swear, if som...

with another tech thing of mine breaking i finally got out a box to throw broken/unneeded tech into for recycling. now i've got a couple decades worth of old junk to sort through. some of them are old consoles and peripherals that i'm not sure what else to do with, and not sure if they even still function...

bleh, spent all day in "ai" training/hype sessions, and immediately after we finished my mouse decided to break on the plus side, it seems most of the engineers who were panelists are aware of what this stuff actually is and what the limitations are, even though our company direction is still to use it everywhere at any cost. big focus on verifying what it's saying/doing and not just trusting it outright. i still don't like the stuff at all, but at least most people are appro...
