@blinry hmmmm, how's the app ecosystem looking there? From what I gathered, the usual Android apps are not simply usable on postmarket OS, or am I missing something? (Especially if one is pinned to DB Navigator for Deutschlandticket etc. this could be of importance)

@blinry @postmarketOS I am curious, does the Linux smartphone function like more like a phone or computer. From my understanding, Standard PC linux primarily system interactions are through the console rather than through GUI. Does a linux phone operate the same way?

@blinry @postmarketOS Probably does not solve the issue of rotten-to-the-core swiss-cheese firmware blobs and hardware though? Otherwise a nice project in concept that yields improvements usable beyond phones too though. What's their take on MAC, i.e. SELinux etc.?

@blinry @postmarketOS I find a smartphone with Linux as firmware interesting. However, I just flashed my Pixel 10 Pro XL with GrapheneOS and am very happy with it. But my tower PC and laptop run on Linux (ZorinOS and Pop! OS). #Linux #ZorinOS #Pop_OS #GrapheneOS

@blinry @dianea it's been on my to-do list to try, but when I went to gather the basic steps, I ended up with something like 100 pages of instructions that repeatedly point out that I will almost certainly brick the phone, possibly with damage to any connected device and no help for repairs. So, yeah, maybe too good to be a true alternative except for the lucky few. It's nice that there is an option out there, tho.

@blinry @postmarketOS the sad thing is that my phone which *should* support this does but I'm told it uses Cairo/software rendering... If it helps, I'm on a mido running qcom msm8953, and my gpu is an adreno 506 This means some GTK apps run really slowly, and scrolls take forever(seconds per frame territory)
