Tubb — Moon Base (1964) has an investigator, Felix Larsen, sent to a Moon base under secret/cover orders, with strange deaths/incidents and a mystery around the base; But: no evidence that Larsen is blind, sees people as colorful geometric objects. T. Jefferson Parker — The Fallen has the “detective sees people/emotions as colored geometric shapes” clue almost exactly, but it’s a modern Earthbound crime novel, not a mid-’60s Moon-colony SF book.

Thought this might be 'the moon is a harsh mistress ' by heinlein as it's a while since I read it but a quick look at Wikipedia and it isn't. It's a cracking book tho, written in 1966 but set in 2075 and has some superb prescience...

@Bette@mstdn.social @lisamelton@mastodon.social reminds me of two novels i really liked when i read them: • “the caves of steel” by isaac asimov: crimes commited in a different city, an entity (robot) that can read minds, solving crimes with mind reading abilities • “the whole man (telepathist)” by john brunner: the deformities, telepathy, perceiving colours and shapes, brought to somewhere to solve crimes both happen on earth, so prob none is the end of your search (might read them again as they’re back in my mind)

@Bette@mstdn.social I doubt this is what you are remembering but "The Blind Geometer" had a blind person, a mathematician, solve some sort of crime. It is a great read but is from 1986 and also not on the moon. I read it in a cool double novel format where from one side the book was the Blind Geometer and from the other side it was a Le Guin novel.
