@iFixit The reason I got my current phone is because my old phone's battery died and the replacement didn't work (the battery went puffy puffy). I'm looking for a new phone in future not due to the battery, but software updates. I could try a new ROM, but there is a lot to consider, like, one of my banks is a snowflake, if you enable developer mode it stops working (which is annoying as hell because I develop Android apps). It's pretty much government backed malware. I can leave this phone just for the bank (and just it) and get a new one for the security updates and nice things.

@iFixit From 2027, the EU will require all new smart phones to have user-replaceable batteries. How this is actually going to work out in practise is not clear. https://www.cereport.eu/news/european-union/91054

Dear @iFixit I’m grateful for your effort in reducing electronics waste, but do you think you could work on the packaging waste? After my last repair (screen+battery) I had a mountain of cardboard and plastic. @Anne__GE

@iFixit well they could have made them replaceable, but they simply choose not to.

@iFixit the best ever solution is the limitation of the max. battery level to 80% in Android. I wonder, why this is still not possible at Windows. Laptop batteries have the shortest lifetime, when not used at all and the laptop is only used with a power supply.
