I don’t think people realize how unbelievably quickly OpenAI could go *poof*
They are dependent on hyperbolic growth. If OpenAI is plateauing already, they’re in margin call territory by the fall. With money-losing products, 12 figures of debt, and key ICs making 7 figures plus, *in cash*, whose stock will be underwater.
It might be as simple as waking up one day and finding ChatGPT, and everything dependent on it, just stopped.

@mattmay@mstdn.social That much debt is colossal. The entirety of the AI industry imploding will have horrible effects on the economy I don't look forward to. But I think it is inevitable.
