But OpenAI is top-heavy with Ph.D.-level researchers and data scientists that spark bidding wars, where signing bonuses and salary bands go out the window. Ruoming Pang signed with Meta for $200M (not a typo) last July, and left for OpenAI 7 months later (package not disclosed). It's that tier where the money is beyond comprehension.
