Exposing my deep ignorance of Wales, the country, I did not reckon with the number of castles, Roman forts, standing stones, birds, burial tombs, coastal paths, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lambs, mossy craggy rocks, sea cliffs, beaches, beaches next to craggy sea cliffs connected by coastal paths, in AONB. How do you get any boring work done when you live there?? Aren’t you just outside inhaling all this all the time??

@IcooIey we had a c.76AD/CE roman fort more or less in our back garden (i could see it from the bathroom window). and there was a norman motte (and once-upon-a-time bailey) across the valley (rumoured to be connected to said fort via tunnels, which may have just been the extensive roman sewers put to different use). and this was on a sheep farm in a national park with two rivers at the bottom of the fields. oh also, there was a standing stone down our lane and up another just in the field. we have a small piece of it that i found just next to it on the ground once. sigh.

@IcooIey its thick with castles and Iron age forts around us. Its mostly England's fault. And it is also stunningly beautiful

@IcooIey the struggle is real, but we almost manage. each village has an 'indoors rota' posted on the church board, so people know when it's their turn to do the bins and check the lights are off, community-wide. it's a good system, but some folk grumble about it in the summer.
