@ApostateEnglishman@mastodon.world Y'all have the opportunity to make a pretty heavy statement to history by making this your last king. Then it would be the UK's last king visiting our first. It has symmetry.

@ApostateEnglishman If we didn't have a Monarchy, useless Prime ministers could not misuse them for their own purposes

@ApostateEnglishman You’re definitely not the only one. The visit ought to have been cancelled, but #trumptynumpty would have has a hissy fit, and #Starmer would have been forced to grovel yet again. #falklandislands

@ApostateEnglishman The monarchy should be dismantled. People can’t afford to live but the king and president enjoy lavish lifestyles. They are all useless.

@ApostateEnglishman Agreed. But blowing smoke up Trump's fabby orange rectum is an easy way to get what you want from him...

@ApostateEnglishman This is exactly what royalty are for! Although I have to say, despite not being a fan, I actually feel a bit sorry for King Spaniel in this case.

@ApostateEnglishman Trump threatened Canada, still part of his majesty’s commonwealth. We pay more per capita to the crown than Brits. So unless it’s to get Trump to back off, he can fuck off. Our PM Carney is brother to Sean Carney the financial advisor to Prince William. I’m very curious what gets discussed also considering Epstein connections getting investigated in UK & elsewhere.

@ApostateEnglishman I guess I'd be ashamed too if I in any way identified with the monarchy or the British state. To my eyes, as an Englishman, both are representatives of the hierarchy of scumbags who #enclosed the commons that our ancestors lived off, driving them from the land of their birth. Which leaves my feelings more an intensification of the desire to be rid of the lot of them than any kind of personal shame. #lovemynationhatemystate

@ApostateEnglishman In 2066, William needs to dissolve the monarchy, abdicate all lands and titles to the state, be called William the liborator and bugger off to Normandy after a thousandish years of foreign rule.

@ApostateEnglishman You're not the only one. I did sign the petition saying that the King shouldn't go, but like all of those petitions, it was ignored. I just hope that Trump doesn't hold Charles hostage and refuse to release him until he's given Canada - the orange idiot is mad enough to do it.

@ApostateEnglishman When your very existence is a status symbol and bestowing your attention is by definition an honor to the recipient, & it turns out status and flattery are the only thing (besides money & rapey opportunities) that the petulant psychopath stopping world trade notices, then you’re the best chance for your nation to have any influence. Sucks that it comes to this, but as a citizen of the former colonies, I’d rather have Charles than Stephen Miller in that ear now.

@ApostateEnglishman I recommend that no one visits the United States at this point in time. It is not safe for many of us living here, let alone visitors from other countries.

@Edelruth@mastodon.online 2026-04-28 14:27
@ApostateEnglishman I'm not clear on the cutting off his own son, but socializing with the far worse perpetrator. Makes the whole Andrew thing ... odd, and makes the King (pausing to insert the opinion that monarchy in this century is utter bullying, in and of itself), grubby.

@ApostateEnglishman unless it's a really clever gambit to defeat the Trump regime. After all this visit must have taken ages to set up. Charles III can only move one square at a time!

@dshan@mastodon.au 2026-04-28 15:21
@ApostateEnglishman An interesting thing about this that just occurred to me is that as King Charles is also King of Australia we should be deeply ashamed and angry about this visit too. However, for this visit I believe King Charles is acting in his capacity as King of the UK only, not as King of Australia or any of the other Commonwealth nations that share him as their head of state. Your king is visiting the orange criminal, but ours isn't. 😂 Yep, Charles is Shrödinger's King, he's both visiting the USA and not visiting the USA, depending on which country you're a citizen of. 🤔

@EricLawton@kolektiva.social 2026-04-28 15:43
@ApostateEnglishman Imagine the embarrassment of the other countries that he's king of . He is clearly going to represent the UK and no one else. Why we don't chew through that leash, I don't know.

@ApostateEnglishman Indeed, with a massive worldwide push for monopolies on vital infrastructure, the push back against mono-anything is more just. The increasingly wide swings between these differentials, is also deeply concerning. Are we in the throes of another #MassExtinction?

@ApostateEnglishman I imagine it’s harder to resist Main Character Syndrome when everyone calls you “your Highness” all day rather than “Sausage-toe Charlie” or whatever his nickname at Timbertop was. I’m still disappointed that we went ahead and sanctified him rather than using his personal record as a reason to finally go Republic.

@ApostateEnglishman As much as I’m anti-monarchist let’s be clear that the fault that Charles is going is entirely Starmer’s.

@SomeVeganCheeseIsOk@mastodon.social 2026-04-28 23:44
@ApostateEnglishman everyone taking everything at face value these days makes me so damn sad. How else are the British government folks going to get realtime access to Trump to perform an evaluation on his health and mental capacity and retain steering influence on him? Dude. He already showed he's hella open to being influenced by whoever talks to him. Even a short term shift in his behavior might be useful to the brits. Visiting was smart.

@ApostateEnglishman@mastodon.world Oh they were very kissy-kissy huggy-huggy with Prince chop-chop and his lot so I wouldn’t be surprised.
