Dug around and found some history on io.com. io.com was an offshoot of Steve Jackson Games, and they got into the online scene when BBSs were all the rage, transitioning to the Internet over time. I think I got my io.com address in 1994 or 1995, and kept it active for probably a dozen years after that. I got my well.com address after moving to Santa Cruz in the late 90s. Gotta have a Bay Area email address if you're living in Norcal... I wish I'd kept that one, but I had to let it go for financial reasons (broke-ass dot-com bubble survivor). https://www.sjgames.com/SS/io.html

@boelder i go back a bit as well, where my pacbell dot net address was a unique one that didnt need to have numbers or other charcters added, then later yahoo. I think I also had a concentric dot net account somewhere. I've always avoided apple, Microsoft, later google, etc. Ahhhh the ancient world. No more free mail accounts/traps for me, lol.

@boelder my first email domains were @cup.portal.com followed by @bu.edu. Then I had a truly weird one. @world.std.com. Yeah, STD. It was also my first attempt at being a freelance Web developer in the NCSA Mosaic days.

@boelder dannyman@netwrk21.chi.il.us It was someone with a 2400 baud modem that exchanged messages with the Internet twice a day. I connected at 1200 baud.

@boelder OK, so not only is my email STILL ending in @yahoo, but I have been on the platform so long that when they tried to upgrade me to the "new" web interface for email, I emailed support angrily, TOLD them I had been on since there WAS a yahoo, and I wanted the plain email interface back, and THEY GAVE IT TO ME.

@boelder Literally millions of people had AOL email addresses long before any of the ones in the image. I don't think any of those give you seniority at all.

@boelder LOL. other than my milnet email, my first "personal" email was a uunet!!user email, followed a short while later with user@. yahoo, hotmail, and msn didn't even exist. my current personal email domain was registered Mar 1994. my partner uses a gmail addr. oh, the shame...
