@gknauss It's probably something like that "bitter apple" spray they sell to people with bunnies as pets. It dissuades them from chewing power cables or whatnot.

@gknauss @lisamelton Of course, many of the key fobs, home automation sensors, remotes, etc. I have now include warnings against using coated CR2032 batteries, as they say it causes battery contact unreliability.

@gknauss I got a package of two of those batteries, with the message about secret nasty coating and kids. But that was fine. OPENING that package was nearly impossible. I guess they think of kids as highly intelligent and having a convenient hatchet to get to the nasty tasting batteries. I had to use a combination of really sharp knife and scissors, not kid friendly, to finally get it open.

@gknauss @HollyGoDarkly I remember hearing about the coating on the Switch cartridges and licking one on purpose (obviously) and being sort of disappointed. Last year I was changing a CR2032. I had not seen the warning. Wanting both hands to open the device in question, I held the thing in my lips. Holy cow these people are not screwing around. They need to talk to the Switch people. Also I had a blue spot on my lips and hand for a solid day.
