UPDATE: Bunnie is coming home, NS has found them and they should be mailed to us in the next days. Thank you all for sharing and boosting. I'm overjoyed We lost my child's cuddly toy in the train from Amsterdam to Vlissingen 😭 They are heartbroken EDIT: the cuddly toy is a grey bunny and their name is Bunnie, I can only imagine how scared little Bunnie is 😥 EDIT: adding an image, Bunnie was sitting in a pink backpack with children's clothes and a tablet in it https://ilost.co/nl/lost/217655 #nederlandse #spoorwegen #ns

@webhat@infosec.exchange I haven't experienced this from a parent's perspective, but I remember when I was around 4 years old and losing my favorite toy at the time on a trip to see my great grandmother. It should be noted, that was about 50 years ago, too, and I still remember that. It was left at a Scotty's roadside hamburger joint in London, KY. They were like a knock-off White Castle My toy was a fuzzy monkey stuffed animal. I have Googled for that monkey over the years, lort know why, I am an adult now and it's just a silly kids stuffed monkey. Good luck, I hope someone finds it and returns it.

@webhat@infosec.exchange oh no :( silly question perhaps but did you report this to NS lost&found as well so train personnel can keep an eye out for it?

@webhat@infosec.exchange Boosted for reach. There is no logic to this kind of attachment. It's just a form of love, and that doesn't have to make sense. My 9yo has a stuffed dog named Skip It that he got during the early days of COVID lockdown. Under no circumstances does he go to bed without Skip It, and I've seen the desperation - "Where's Skip It?!?" - if he gets buried in the sheets or falls out of the bed.

@webhat@infosec.exchange my daughter lost a bear in the airport when she was about 8. I told her that stuffies never really get lost. Their identity just transfers to a new body (her bear had a distinct and kind of terrible personality -- it was known as the instigator of all her biggest shenanigans). I took her to the toy store and we carefully searched the "bodies" for the spark of her bastard of a bear. She knew it wasn't the same bear... But also it was. It helped.

@webhat@infosec.exchange I don't have help to offer - sorry, I'm in the US - but one of my daughters lost her bunny, Pawsy, in a movie theater when she was 5, and she was devastated. She still talks about it. Mo Willems has a series about a bunny getting lost - Knuffle Bunny - and in the third book, Knuffle Bunny Free https://bookwyrm.social/book/677842/s/knuffle-bunny-free Knuffle Bunny is left on a transatlantic plane! Trixie is eventually reunited with Knuffle Bunny, but... well, it's a long story and makes dads cry. Good luck.

@webhat@infosec.exchange Oh boy, a MUCH loved member of the family. A beaver of ours was left on the train from Maastricht to Den Haag once and his owner was inconsolable. I had another sent (in a can, which is how I brought first) from Canada. The surprise (after I opened can ofc) was greeted with unconfined joy until the imposter, who looked pretty convincing, was embraced: THIS ISN'T BEAVER!! (He didn't smell right)

@webhat@infosec.exchange I'm sorry for your loss. My daughter once left her beloved stuffed cat (Pokey) in the cafeteria of a museum in Charlotte, NC. Luckily, some very kind person deposited it at the Lost & Found and the museum shipped it to us. It was a rough time.

@webhat@infosec.exchange All these tales of beloved childhood toys and the heartbreak if they are lost. I somehow never did lose Pinky, a green elephant who came in a box clearly labeled “Pink Elephant.” That was 56 years ago; and, although I can barely find anything else around here, I can tell you exactly where Pinky is right now. *roughly 10 feet straight ahead of me, 2-1/2 feet to the right, 2nd box down

@webhat@infosec.exchange #NS has a new system (since this month) where travelers can check themselves if their #lost #item has been found: https://gevonden-voorwerpen.ns.nl/ (You can check multiple categories like luggage, coat or toy.) Hope it helps you find Bunnie. 🤞

@webhat@infosec.exchange I hope you find it! When my son lost a favorite turtle (Franklin) on a family trip I started including him in the nighttime stories. He rescued a turkey from coyotes, he went back in time, he went to the land of talking bears to meet characters from another story...

@webhat@infosec.exchange Over a decade ago I lost a stuffed bunny toy at the hotel we were staying at in Toronto. I called the hotel to let them know I lost it. The hotel found him, packed him gently in a box with wrapping paper, and expedited shipping of Bun Bun to me. I hope that Bunnie finds their way back to your child.

  • @webhat@infosec.exchange Oh the horror! I hope that Bunnie will get back to you! It is so horrible to loose a plushy. Hoewel ik ondertussen al bijna 20 ben vind ik het nog steeds akelig om een knuffel te verliezen. Het idee alleen al is ongelooflijk naar. Moge Bunnie snel worden teruggevonden!

@webhat@infosec.exchange doesn't the railway company have a lost&found service? Maybe, you could ask them if they found something.

@webhat@infosec.exchange Jeez this sucks! But there's a good chance train personnel has found it. NS keeps found items for quite some time. For sure give it a try! Good luck finding it :blobcatheart: https://www.ns.nl/klantenservice/verloren-gestolen/verloren-of-gevonden.html

@webhat@infosec.exchange Best of luck! I hope you find it. I still remember when my little sister lost her favourite bear on the car park of the hospital. She had had an operation and she was still a bit dozed. Later she remembered how she dropped it, but in that moment just didn’t care because of the sedatives. Explain that to a five-year-old! 😭

@webhat@infosec.exchange You might have done this already but you can also look for Bunny here: https://gevonden-voorwerpen.ns.nl/ Also, when I lost a glove recently, I directly called the customer hotline, and they noted the train number and where on the train it was etc., and told me they'd look for it directly. ...unfortunately without success, but you never know.
